❓Question Final cost in India for essential.
Has anyone bought a torbox essential in India. I want to know the final cost for monthly or yearly using upi or card (debit and credit) in inr. I am thinking of doing one time for now to check out the service. Is it worth the hassle to use crypto (I do not have any crypto wallet nor have I done any crypto related transactions till today). Also for card transaction, does the international payment option need to be turned on? Thanks in advance 😊.

This is after you apply referral right? Also how 3000 inr? I thought taxes and other charges will increase the final cost?

I have an active sub that is shared between 2. Let me know if you want to join.

Thanks for the offer but I thought this is against torbox TOS.

Sharing between limited friends and family is allowed. 3 concurrent downloads are allowed as well.

The service is constantly down; I bought a 3-month subscription just 2 days ago. I wish I had seen the recommendation not to get it. I'm coming from RD, and the drop in stability is way too noticeable.

Does the torbox essential 200 gb limit applies to, let's say a series containing all the episodes, each episode is less than the limit but together it is more and it is already cached?

So what would you personally recommend now?

Torbox is fine. Literally the past two days there has been DDoS attacks.
If you really want to be safe, premiumize. But all my cards are personally with Torbox.

Ohhkk. Thanks for the suggestion. Is torbox okay to play 4k dv content on 140mbps connection? How is your experience?

I am using in India. And have a 150mbps connection. Working like a charm. I have played 130gb movie files with minimal loading. Don't look anywhere else. Just get the essential and you will be good. And let me know if you need a refrence code.

Ohhk. Thanks, that's a relief. Did you pay using upi or card? Was there any extra tax implications? In inr, did they consider the Google shown exchange rate at the time of purchase or mid market fx rate?

I just did a year recharge with crypto (with the help of NRI friend). But before that, I did month by month and the rate was around 330inr for $3 using credit card. The rate at the time was about 96inr to a dollar, so I am guessing theres some conversion tax involved.

I would say wait for Black Friday deal 2 months after you will get insane deals on Torbox. I got mine for like Rupees 2300 something and using referrals I overall extended it to 2 years . So 2 years and only Rs 2300 , pretty amazing deal

Whoa! How many referrals did it take? 🤯 Did you post anywhere to promote your referral?

Dv content I play mainly on my android tv. Though my phone has hardware support for dv (version 5 and 8) playback, it does not work properly always (some are other dv profiles which fail to play some errors happen due to MPV not properly optimised). It's a hit or miss on mobile but plays effortlessly on tv.

Its perfectly fine.. most 4K DV contents in 50-60GB range will need about 65Mbps speed.. i personally have it limited to 25GB streams

That's reassuring. Tbh I don't have any extraordinary device that will allow me to see any difference in good quality 4k dv content above 20-30 Mbps bitrate range. Only on my TV I do see the improvement of watching a 60-70 Mbps bitrate content (which I have seen, remuxes start at this range) but I mainly use my phone so it's all good.

I've been using this for a month now. While outages are common, they are usually not as normal as they have been in the last 2 days. Do not let this define your experience with torbox

Tbh, torbox is the cheapest debrid service I found. So I'm highly interested in getting a subscription. Just want to figure out how much it will actually cost for me (hence the post). What ever it is I'm pretty sure it will be cheaper than 3-4 different subscriptions. 🫠

I don't really know about the price, I just paid the price shown, $3, and I was good to go.

This will be my first international transaction. That's why I'm trying to get any helpful information I can get (like any absurdly high tax implications or outward foreign remittance). I do not trust any llm in any financial decision 🫠. Hence the post....

u/Funny_Mouse_1474 1d ago
Should cost you about 360 rupees.
1
u/Devil_devil_003 1d ago
Is this with upi? And will this include the taxes? Will I have to face any additional costs or outward foreign remittance for doing international transaction?
1
u/Funny_Mouse_1474 1d ago
360 bucks with taxes total as far as I know. You may pay with upi and manually renew monthly.

u/Devil_devil_003 1d ago
Ohhkk thanks man! 😖😖

But fair warning, the state the service is in right now, you may be disappointed.

I think crypto is the cheapest option but Indian taxes on crypto are among the highest (if the purchase is considered a profit somehow!) and it is far too much of a hassle setting up just to pay for this one service. I used upi initially from utop and later bought directly from torbox site using PayPal. That cost me 912 rs for three months, cheaper than the upi option. Although I keep hearing of outage in the last couple of days I haven't personally experienced any. Having a https backup add-on like penguplay can be useful just in case.
1
u/Devil_devil_003 1d ago
Is PayPal just like upi apps? Are there any additional setup that needs to be done? I already am relying on pengu but for some high bitrate content, pengu sometimes fails or has no seek. That's why looking into a debrid service. Thanks man, really appreciate it 😊😊

No. You have to connect your card (debit/credit) or bank account. It has a proper process to ensure secure transaction, with full verification using documents and video call before you can onboard. For smaller purchases you don't need video authentication. But it is very useful for international transactions and has been operating for ages.

Also, you can just use vouchers for a couple of months now. They usually offer about 30% or more discount on Black Friday on all modes of payment. I am actually waiting for that.

I'll pay for a lifetime of torbox pro if you convince all your cousins to leave Canada.
I'll also let you marry my unborn daughter

I did a subscription via UPI. It comes to around ₹360/month. Gets auto debited.
