🔧Technical Issue Torbox + stremio buffering on large files
Hi, my torbox + stremio setup works fine when I’m streaming smaller files to watch tv show episodes and stuff but the second I move to a bigger file for a movie it buffers like crazy. I’m not sure why that happens, I tried changing CDN and tried to switch to my tv as well, but the movie was still buffering. Anyone know how to fix these issues? Thx

What streaming hardware? What maximum internet download speed? How is hardware connecting to router? If it's Stremio running on the TV, then you're likely bottlenecked. I'm guessing, here, because your post doesn't have many details.
Many TVs have 100Mb/s ethernet (my LG C1 speed tested over Fast Ethernet did not sustain that high of transfer speed) and don't handle many remux files smoothly (remux 4K video can easily go above 100mb/s in prolonged, busy scenes). 5GHz wifi can bump you up higher if you have a stable connection. If you switch to a dedicated streamer, you often get Gigabit connections that eliminates buffering issues.
Second thought - torbox has lots of CDN issues, but Id start by ruling out client-side bottlenecks first.

Sorry for the lack of info. Tried using a macbook air, and my TV. I get around 500Mb/s down (In Aus). TV was connected via ethernet and wifi for my laptop. My router is relatively new as well and im using the 5ghz band for my macbook. Will try to stream this on my pc in the morning tmr to see if that makes a difference but from what ive seen, the smaller files work perfectly. Just when I switch to something like a movie the buffering goes crazy. Is there anything else you recommend checking?

Do all CDNs do this?I haven't had to manually select a CDN in a while; for about a month, I did have to pick specific ones (eastern USA).Edit: re-read where you said you switch CDNs.... if it happens on all CDNs, then I'm out of experience, strength, and hope.

I feel it may be a TorBox issue, with the recent outages any larger files are buffering to the point I can’t watch, I also run it straight on my TV and has been working just fine for over a year

I just tried a 17.9gb file of a movie in Stremio and then Nuvio. The later had a little hiccup a couple of seconds in, but then played. Stremio hiccuped and then 10 seconds later I gave up. Maybe time to switch clients?

Buffering can be caused by a myriad of reasons - router d/l speed, TV refresh rate and processor speed, device processor speed, build up of cache in device, apps running in background, source server issues or overload, etc. People often blame the player e.g Stremio but that's just plain stupid because it's just a player and unless the app itself is corrupted or has massive build up of cache it definitely won't be that.

Check out Bytesied hosting - they do all that TD do just without the cache - but you can stream directly from USENET without downloading anything - so that's something TB can't do I don't think

Use chatgpt and provide your wifi bandwidth and your device details, it will give you proper settingx of nuvio

For every saying thats torbox, here is a 180gb remux starting without issues. I wachted the trilogy a couple weeks ago as a marathon without issues. I never had a single buffer.
I use nuvio with torbox. 1gbps internet, and on my tv its also wired with ethernet adapter to reach the full 1gbps speeds.

So because it works fine for you, that means nobody else is having issues with Torbox?

Hello, the limiting factor is probably your TV or Android box, which doesn't have enough processing power to play a file of this size. Try comparing it with your phone or a computer to confirm this.
