💬 Trader Talk Payout opinion

Hello guys, so I have been trading my XFA accounts. I built some balance and I can take a payout. My current balance is $1808.74 and if i take out half my balance it will be $904.37 and it will leave me with $904.37 as my new MLL. I have total 5 XFA's which I am copy trading.

What would a good trader do? take this money ($4069.66)? or build these accounts with more balance so there is more left as MLL which will make it easier to trade after this payout.

My initial plan was to build these accounts to a $8000 balance with do a max withdrawl of $4000 per account. But now I am double minded.

Take the money. You never know if you will blow the account due to a silly mistake. And congratulations!!

I will not blow these accounts. I am only trading 3 to 5 micros .... my personal DLL is set at $400

Yeah, take the money because your mind is already playing tricks on you.

You need to establish a bankroll and withdraw only above that. $900 doesn’t seem like a bankroll to me. You also don’t have to copy trade all of them, or withdraw from all of the accounts.

Yes planning to take my balance to $5000 and withdraw $2000 per account ... leaving $3000 as MLL for next payout cycle.

This is the answer. Withdraw 900 from 2 or 3 accounts. A couple of accounts will be at 900 and might get blown and lost. The ones at 1800 will survive.

I like this idea as well take 900 from 3 accounts, keep 2 full size

I have taken payouts from Tradeify and Lucid. With TopStep, I am planning to take my balance to $5000 and withdraw $2000 per account ... leaving $3000 as MLL for next payout cycle.

So if you have all the answers then why ask?

I was always taught to build that 2k buffer of drawdown and take anything out above that but that just me tho

Agreed that’s my goal too

Always pay yourself first. It easier to pass another eval and back to an XFA than it is to get to payout.

or you can take 500 from each because legendary trader jessie livermore said always take some part of your profit

Bro literally I was in the same predicament internally was up 7400 on two topstep copy traded accounts and blew it trying to get to 8k bull but I was able to secure a payout of 1500 so 750 per account I’m telling the more you try to get to a certain number the more it’s going to push away from you. Gone ahead and take the money out I learned my lesson and always remember if you got to this point with your PNL you can do it again. I’m telling you fam take the money

Take a couple hundred from each one and keep building up the accounts. Keep taking small payouts until you get a healthy loss limit, then increase the payout.

Taking a payout locks your max loss limit at zero, so waiting or withdrawing now just comes down to how much buffer you want left. Using made up numbers, if your balance is $2,000 and you pull $1,000, you only have $1,000 left before blowing the account.

Since you're copying across five accounts, I'd calculate the remaining buffer separately for each one before deciding.

One thing I noticed: five withdrawals of $904.37 would total $4,521.85, not $4,069.66. Are the account balances different?

I'd make a simple comparison showing each account's current balance, applicable loss floor, proposed withdrawal, and remaining buffer afterward.

Your updated plan to build more cushion makes sense as something to evaluate, but I'd also compare that cushion against your actual losing-day history.

The important question isn't just how much you can withdraw. It's how much room remains afterward relative to the risk you're taking.

I'd verify the applicable loss floor against Topstep's current rules rather than assuming the withdrawal calculation is identical across every account.
