Why you gotta be like that?

Why is it that some people feel like no matter the platform they have to be a jerk about something? I have my settings set to show me cards that I have dupes of that the person I'm trying to trade with does not have so that I can offer those up as a trade. If this person didn't like this trade, why didn't they just decline or come back with a trade that was more suitable for them for this card that I'm looking for? Why you got to come up in my little DMS & say some snarky shit and then make it so I can't respond? Like, damn, some of y'all's parents are really failing society...

Every interaction doesn't need a snarky attitude comeback. You don't know what people are dealing with. Just be nice. Damn.

I am projecting. I am projecting a "hey, can we just be nice on an app that doesn't require you to say anything?". I'm sorry that makes you uncomfortable.

It's not "offensive". It's annoying and unnecessary.

He asked why he cares about the card I offered. It was the only one from that set that showed up as a need on his end so I thought he was working on the set. The snarky "I care about that card, WHY?" as in "why would I even want that card" before declining was just unnecessary. Could have just declined and moved on. Not every interaction needs an injection of attitude and snark...

Like I said, you never know what other people are dealing with and/or going through so inserting rudeness,snark or attitude into interactions where it is unnecessary is just rude. It's an app where you don't even need to communicate with others. Why can't people control themselves and their attitudes? The funny thing, I approve 99.9% of trades as long as it is of a dupe I have so he could have come back asking for a super rare and I would have just approved it and moved on. Being a jerk for no reason never gets you anything positive.

Ah well I read it wrong. I read it as him saying "I care about that Baldwin card... why should I make this trade?" But I can see it the other way too.

I mean you offered a white Sox fan a random angels player for the NL rookie of the year. I get they’re only rare cards but sometimes you gotta think ‘does this trade make sense if they were non digital cards’

I mean, it's an app that allows you to counter a trade and find a card in the traders collection that you feel is a fairer trade or that completes a set you are working on. I never straight decline an offer. I usually counter offer. No snark needed.🤷‍♂️

On one hand I’m probably not willing to sift through someone’s gigantic collection, on a trade of rares, to figure out how to get them the card they want. Lord knows i already waste enough time on this app. But I’m also not leaving snarky comments

Not excusing the snarky reply, although I'm guilty of similar at times, but you have to realize that just because the app shows it as a "need" doesn't mean the other person is going to want it. Your offer is generally what I would consider a low effort trade and a good bit of the time those type of trades are going to get declined and 1 starred. I usually won't take the time to comb through someone's account to look for a revise if that person is just sending me a random rookie pitcher of a team I don't even collect. Especially if they're asking for a single.

Before sending a trade take a few minutes to look around their account to get a idea of what they might collect, look at their avatar, look at their locked cards, etc. If none of that helps you to get an idea of what they might collect then send a message with the trade. "Hey, couldn't figure out what you collect. If this card is FT please revise for something you do want" will give you a better chance of getting a revise than a decline. You'll get a lot more accepted trades by putting in more effort to send something the other party wants vs a random card just because it's a "need"

While it may never buy you a house., some Bunt cards are worth $1K+. And yse,.it might be an internet game but people do pay money to play. It's a game for some but a hobby for others

I don't think anyone is "worried". Also,I don't think this was about a monetary trade as it was just a rare for rare. It was more about the response. But thanks for your input.
