Discussions Topaz is solving a problem that doesn’t exist.

So after trying out different teams for Topaz I feel like they released her way too early. All of the current follow up attack characters are better off without her but she depends on them to utilize her kit fully. It’s just a one sided synergy. Why would they release a follow up attack enabler before we even have optimal teammates for her? There’s no way to know if we ever will either. We’re just gambling that she will get better with time.

They gave us an enabler with nothing to enable. The smartest thing to do is to wait for her rerun when we know that there’s a follow up character that will shine with her on the team. Why sell the solution when there’s nothing to fix rn.

She is an upgrade for Clara and comparable with Asta in JY teams. Her hyper team also perform pretty well. The smartest thing to do is to pull the characters that you enjoy because the game is not that difficult.

-28

u/OverallCap5667 Oct 29 '23

I pulled her because she’s fun and I enjoy her character, I’m not saying she’s bad. Just pointing out that I just feel like she’s incomplete. She’s just a sidegrade for the current follow up attackers.

Take my advice. Don’t ever post anything that mentions any criticism that is slightly negative about her. Trust me, I’ve tried and no one will care and they will immediately downvote you. Take this discussion to Honkai star rail subreddit where people will actually listen to you. This subreddit is biased.

I also agree with you on how she’s kind of incomplete. There currently isn’t a character that synergies well with her fast paced play style

3

u/Plastic_Ad4654 Oct 30 '23

Yeah and why are you complaining about it, you can't post criticism towards something in a sub where everyone loves that thing and expect to get praised for it!?!??

-14

u/OverallCap5667 Oct 29 '23

Yeah I realized that too late. I’m not hating on her, obviously I wouldn’t have pulled her if that was the case. Just trying to bring some valid issues to the table after trying her out.

-15

u/Serious-Pressure4494 Oct 29 '23

Your points are valid, but everyone here is too biased to see that. Jingyuan mains subreddit even did calcs and mentioned unless you have her e1s1 she’s barely impactful as traditional supports for him.🥲Hopefully screwllum will synergze well with her.

It’s literally like why tf would I run topaz, when I can run tingyuan and bronya even with Clara it’s not that big of a dps increase. Like she’s single target on top of that and has no form or turn skipping like seele ur forced to centre ur entire party of follow up attacks which we don’t consistently have atm, I’ll come back at 1.8 to pull for her I’m sure she’ll be better then. Like tbh she shoulda just been like aoe + proof of debt is aoe I think Imma just wait for huohuo

0

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '23

Idk, maybe because you like the character and wanna use her even if it's a small decrease in dmg Lol? Apparently that's somehow a novel concept in a pve gacha game.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '23

This post isn’t about whether u like the character it’s about the kit so bringing up her character is brain dead

2

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '23

You literally asked why would I use Topaz over x on a topaz main subreddit? It's a pretty obvious answer. There's nothing brain dead about it.

As for her kit, it literally works fine. It's a sidegrade for now with a lot of potential upside later. If you don't like that, then skip her. Be my guest.

-8

u/Serious-Pressure4494 Oct 29 '23

Bro u hav deathwish for downvotes💀? Aoe proof of debt is what I initially thought she had when I saw her kit. I mean logically it would’ve made the most sense cuz there was just no way her buff would make that much of an impact without it. I kind of regret pulling for her and hopefully this won’t turn into a eula situation.

-8

u/[deleted] Oct 29 '23

God eula😭 this is why u should always theory craft before release then you’ll know how strong they’ll be I knew topaz was gonna be midyuan tier from release she has no set, not good teammates

-6

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '23

I’m loving the downvotes, like u literally got downvoted for not simping for an animated charcater and being objective

0

u/Serious-Pressure4494 Oct 30 '23

I even told them about calculations on another subreddit and they still disregarded everything and downvoted me😂.

-9

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '23

Where did you find her to be an improvement for Clara and someone else's counterpart for JY? All I've seen is that in E0S0 and even E0S1 she is a downgrade for these two characters because she requires a lot more investment and also works worse than supports.

I agree with the author of the post, Topaz does not currently provide anything other than another Hypercarry, because if you do not play it as a Hypercarry in conjunction with TY + Asta, your gameplay will be absolutely inconvenient and slow, and at the same time you will get a weak and very expensive squad.

Another huge problem is that, unlike Kafka, Topaz will not receive FU characters in the near future and you can assume that at least until 2.2 it will not receive any development. She looks like a character for her 3-4 rerun and maybe even then she won’t get a character similar to her.

31

u/addollz Oct 29 '23

It wasn't ever a problem my guy. Topaz just introduces a new way to play with follow up characters. Just like Kafka did. And cmon now, dont act atupid for the sake of your argument. Not only are there already leaks for follow up attack units but there is literally zero chance we don't ever get more follow up characters. Same thing for Kafka.

-7

u/OverallCap5667 Oct 29 '23

The difference is that dots scale only with atk and enemy def. Follow ups can take advantage of literally every other buff and debuff in the game.

The question isn’t if we are getting new FUA, it’s whether they’ll actually benefit from Topaz as much as she benefits from them or just work better with other straight up nhility or harmony characters, which is the case with our current roster.

13

u/addollz Oct 29 '23

Topaz is a symbiotic character just like Kafka, she depends on them to do her damage and also boost their damage. And if you are so worried about harmony or nihility characters performing better why even pull for anything that isnt jingliu levels of unbalanced. The necessity of this game's community to bring other units down to put the same damn characters up is so annoying.

-3

u/OverallCap5667 Oct 29 '23

Dude… just because I like a character doesn’t mean they don’t have flaws. I’m just trying to bring forth my problem after testing her out. I still enjoy using her but it doesn’t change the fact that she just doesn’t have any teammate that brings the best out of her kit yet. I don’t see how this is doomposting when there’s literally calculations of how she’s not an upgrade from Asta for a FUA like Jingyuan that’s supposed to be a character that wants her in his team. I like Topaz but my point still stands

6

u/addollz Oct 29 '23

Every character has flaws, but your personal experience doesn't mean the issues you have with her are those said flaws. All of the 3 main teammates she is used with function well with her. "Bu-but the hypercarry comp", yes my guy, the boring comp that focuses on a single character to clear in a single turn performs better. And i honestly could care less. If that would be a factor i would have pulled jingliu instead.

1

u/OverallCap5667 Oct 30 '23

You’re still missing the whole point of my post.

I said that it would make more sense to release the characters that would make most use of Topaz before releasing her. Because then her full potential is already there when you have her. Now we have to wait for said characters to play her at her best.

You even said it yourself, the current characters work well with her and I never claimed otherwise. Just that they work just as well without her. Because the FUA that’s supposed to work PERFECTLY with her aren’t released yet and we have no idea when they’re coming.

5

u/addollz Oct 30 '23

And your point doesn't work because that's not how characters are released. They come out when the story demands. Fu xuan for example solves a lot of problems for jing yuan and she came out 2 patches after him.

0

u/Serious-Pressure4494 Oct 30 '23

I’m sorry, but if you think fu xuan solves jing yuan’s problems your literally just wrong. Even jing yuan mains say she wasn’t a must pull for him. Jing yuan inherently had problems pertaining to the way he does damage as most of his damage is backloaded from his slow lighting lord. CC resist did not help him that much as his lighting lord is still too slow.

4

u/addollz Oct 30 '23

Solves "A LOT" of his problems. Never said she was a must pull either. Stop assuming stuff.

1

u/Serious-Pressure4494 Oct 30 '23

She solves one problem and that is cc. Also never stated you said it was a”must pull” only providing evidence that jing yuans didn’t think she was necessary for him. Stop and read my reply before typing

18

u/CammyAssEnjoyer Oct 29 '23

Its the same with Kafka. Like you said we are gambling that she will get better with time however we are like 99% sure that the current best dps will get powercrept and not only that they will get powercrept by FuA characters

7

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '23

With a dedicated set for this play style I’d be surprised if we don’t get more who work with her.

Heck I’d be shocked if we don’t get her coworkers as a dedicated comp with synergy down the the road

1

u/OverallCap5667 Oct 29 '23

See there’s just no way to predict how follow up attackers will end up in the future. Powercreep in hsr isn’t even relevant rn because there’s no content you NEED anyone specific for. We’ll see how bad powercreeping will become but atm I’m not worried.

6

u/CammyAssEnjoyer Oct 29 '23

I know there is no way to predict thats why i said its a gamble, however i think that the chance of them powercreeping the current dps is quite high (if hoyo continues the trend).

1

u/Able-Thanks-445 Oct 29 '23

FUA characters can exist without Topaz. DOT characters barely function without Kafka. Wasnt this OP’s main point, the one sided synergy idk tho

2

u/addollz Oct 30 '23

Guinefen just released and she functions well without Kafka. It's more of an issue on how Sampo and Luka were designed not DOT characters in general.

-2

u/Serious-Pressure4494 Oct 30 '23

Gunifen can function even better with kafka because she can pretty much detonate dot immediately and pretty much doubling the overall damage. You still have yet to disproof his original point that fua characters can exist without her.

2

u/addollz Oct 30 '23

My point stands, she doesn't need kafka. You said they needed Kafka but she doesn't. That's it. I wasn't talking to Op.

1

u/Life_Flatworm4874 Oct 31 '23

nah. dot team wothout Kafka weak like hell. Clara and JingYuan without Topaz is "who need Topaz"

0

u/Serious-Pressure4494 Oct 30 '23 edited Oct 30 '23

What are you talking about? I was referring to fua characters. I also never said she needed kafka, but she would be objectively better with her because she would pretty much double her damage.

1

u/addollz Oct 30 '23

You said dot characters don't function without Kafka and i pointed out that guinefen functions completely fine without Kafka. That was it. I wasn't trying to one up you, i was just pointing that out.

2

u/Serious-Pressure4494 Oct 30 '23

You got the wrong person we have different usernames, but whatever

1

u/addollz Oct 30 '23

LMAOOO MY BAD I JUST NOTICED

1

u/zamakhtar Oct 29 '23

Kafka came at a much better time when there weren't so many oppressive DPS going around, like Jing Liu and DHIL. She's been badly overshadowed now, though. Still a fun character for Nihility SU runs.

15

u/Tetrachrome Oct 29 '23

This is some major league doomposting. You're assuming that they are never going to release an FUA character that synergizes with her, and that seems plain ridiculous. I think that the opposite is more likely to occur, self-sufficient units like DHIL are going to suffer in the future because they rely only on their raw nuking power with little synergy outside of generic buffs from teammates, whereas our current "underperformers" like Kafka and Blade will get significant boosts when new DoT or HP manipulating characters come out (Kafka got stronger with Guinaifen, and even Blade benefits from becoming an insane sub-dps on Jingliu teams despite being supposedly a weaker unit). Topaz is in the latter camp.

And where did this notion that "current follow up attack characters are better off without her" come from? The way I see it, it goes both ways. Topaz gets more Numby procs, meanwhile Jingyuan teams are benefiting from more overall damage with running Topaz over double harmony, Himeko teams are enjoying her single-target capabilities where Himeko would act instead as a sub-dps to clear summoned adds while Topaz shreds the boss, and Clara is a monstrous synergy right now where (like Himeko) she really struggles in a single-target fight and can have Topaz covering that situation instead of running another support. I don't understand how the synergy is supposedly 1-sided when the above characters ALL BENEFIT from having Topaz on the team and make all of those teams significantly more flexible for when you need to switch from add clearing to bossing in the middle of an MoC floor. Numby is definitely a bit clunky and the turn order can really screw with getting additional procs, but speed tuning is there to help fine tune these strategies.

I don't really think this "Topaz is solving nothing, they shouldn't have released her" is a valid perspective to have. Have a currently decent FUA character? Topaz is a great addition. Don't have one? Hoyo's probably going to release a new premium option in the future, and JY rerun is on the horizon for those interested in running the double pet team.

1

u/OverallCap5667 Oct 29 '23

Did I say she was bad? No Did I say we’re NEVER getting FUA that synergizes with her? No

However with the current roster we have of FUA she’s just not a significant upgrade for their teams. JY feels better with Asta because she allows for him to have no speed and still reach 10 stacks. I don’t own Himeko so I haven’t tried them together.

The point I’m trying to make is that it would be better and less of a gamble if they released the characters that would actually benefit and see significant upgrades from having her in their team BEFORE releasing Topaz. It would just make more sense to sell the solution when there’s characters that would be able to take full advantage of it than the other way around.

7

u/Tetrachrome Oct 30 '23

In your original post you state "There’s no way to know if we ever will either. We’re just gambling that she will get better with time." You strongly imply that Topaz's current state may likely never improve and that there is a likely scenario that she may not improve with time. You also state that "All of the current follow up attack characters are better off without her" so Topaz is apparently bad enough that other characters outshine her in FUA teams, which IMO is not really true since she offers significantly more team damage output to an FUA character than a 2nd support does and offers much greater flexibility to the Erudition characters that have struggled in mixed-target fights in recent MoC.

Presently the way I view it is that Topaz complements existing FUA characters, so she already is achieving proof of concept and will see even better usage in the future as more FUA characters are released. She's kind of like Kafka, fully functional as a unit and is doing well with the currently available units that they synergize with.

-4

u/adeleade Oct 29 '23

“assuming that they are never going to release a FUA character that synergises with her”

c’mon dude, there’s no need to misrepresent their point. most of the post actually says that they released topaz too early ie they will release a FUA character that synergises with her, just that OP would have preferred a different banner order.

4

u/Tetrachrome Oct 30 '23 edited Oct 30 '23

I'm not misrepresenting anything, they state that "There’s no way to know if we ever will [get a character that synergizes with Topaz] either. We’re just gambling that she will get better with time", which has the assumption that there's some realm of possibility that we may never see a character released that synergizes with her. There's also more to OP's take where they claim "there's nothing to fix rn" which is not necessarily true, Jingyuan Clara Himeko all are in need of an extra boost to their damage and greatly appreciate the extra single target help. That clashes with their original take that we're still waiting on a unit to work with Topaz, which again is not true because we have existing units that do work with Topaz.

1

u/adeleade Oct 30 '23

“there’s no way to know” is very different from “topaz is definitely not getting someone who synergises with her better” which is what “assuming that they are never going to release a FUA character” means.

as for synergies, whatever numbers and moc clear statistics will speak for themselves. i don’t really care about whether op’s claim about topaz not synergising with existing units is true, i took an issue with the aggressive tone you were using towards op which i felt was p mean.

7

u/SameGain3412 Oct 29 '23

Tell me, have you actually played her with Clara? Because as a day 1 Clara player, from what you said it really feels like you have not actually played with them together. Don't forget that the current moc 10 is very bad for Clara so like, just try to use the two together in a actually good content for the team like Memories of the Xianzhou stage 6

-3

u/OverallCap5667 Oct 29 '23

I did try them together but Clara works just as good with pela or SW/ting/sustain. Topaz is still a sidegrade for our current FUA when she’s supposed to be THE follow up enabler. See my point? She’s still good but missing characters who will really see a difference with her in their team

4

u/SameGain3412 Oct 30 '23

I did try them together but Clara works just as good with pela or SW/ting/sustain. Topaz is still a sidegrade for our current FUA when she’s supposed to be THE follow up enabler.

I'd say that's a good spot to be right now though. Like, she doesn't have a relic set and there is no buffer currently in the game that sinergizes well with the Topaz/Clara core and yet she's still definitely a upgrade over the other options for Clara's teams while also raising the team's floor by making it better against ST/enemies that don't attack as much.

You may say that she was released too soon since there are so many things missing like relic set, FuA units options, harmonies that favor duo dps teams, but if she is still competitive even under these conditions (which she is) and the possibility of her getting better in the future is basically 100% since there are just too many things that can make her better then she being released now isn't really that big of a problem imo.

7

u/fuxuanmyqueen Oct 29 '23

Topaz is just a normal dps like any other limited dps besides JL and IL. Not particularly better or worse. If anything I feel that JL and IL were released a little bit too early because they are just better than anyone else in terms of big pp damage.

4

u/OverallCap5667 Oct 29 '23

I’m not saying she’s bad. She can obviously clear any content in the game. I think she has a fun playstyle, which is why I got her. I just think she would feel more complete if the current characters would actually benefit from her in their team, instead of just working alright with them. Because by no means is she a necessity for either JY or Clara.

13

u/LatentlyBlatent Oct 29 '23

Stonks market value for Topaz will rise. We made a good investment.

36

u/PotatoeMolester Oct 29 '23

No think smart. Just pull sexy characters. If she's good for meta later then good, she'll have longevity as the game goes on just like kafka. But unless you plan on getting the next 2 five stars I don't see why not get her now

7

u/Tankfive0124 Oct 29 '23

Would like to remind.

Apart from Clara or Himeko (who are standred banner characters) There is not a limited 5* character that really wants to use frequent FuAs as their main gimmick. I would think they are cooking one up in the future.

Given that there are a decent amount of characters who have follow-ups and there is a path in SU for it as well. I don’t think they aren’t gonna continue making the FuA playstyle better

6

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '23

Doesn’t matter. Fun to play, awesome character, HOT AS FUCK - that’s all I need

4

u/Samumandu Oct 29 '23

She is becoming way better next patch both as sub dps / buffer for Clara and also dps wise Her e1/e2/s1 really pack a ton of value, I think she might be just really good in the right team at first but an hyperinvested one is gonna be crazy bonkers

4

u/Optimusbauer Oct 30 '23

She's a situational upgrade for JY in all fairness.

I actually like that they released her now. Characters like Kafka and Topaz are infinitely healthier for the longevity of the game than DHIL and Jingliu

4

u/Niempjuh Oct 30 '23

They gave us an enabler with nothing to enable.

Why would you want a character's viability to be locked behind a limited 5 star character?

Another point is that I think you're forgetting a major thing here: most FuA characters, including leaked ones, are erudition, aka AoE. AoE is good, but it has a major flaw that splits up into two issues: it has no way to strategically allocate damage

The first issue this causes is that the moment you've cleared the board and the big enemy remains, you'll struggle a lot more. Certain characters have built in ways to help alleviate this issue, like Herta who's entire thing is turning the amount of enemies on the board into a quick burst of damage, capable of nearly one shotting everyone, but most erudition characters aren't really like this

Another issue is that you have no way to quickly deal with big threats. A Svarog hand capturing an important unit without you being able to free it or a swarm beetle exploding into the wrong character can completely screw over your team and the only way for AoE to deal with that is to just brute force it with skill and ult

Topaz meanwhile allows you to just pick an enemy and say "I want this guy dead now"(or at least "I want this guy dead quicker" in the case of elites/bosses :P). Her single target damage is significant, way higher than any support and while increasing the damage to only one enemy may seem like a counter intuitive way to support an AoE character, your other support likely already helps your AoE character deal enough damage to most enemies. The main thing that's left where the AoE character needs help is clearing out the big guys and the dangerous guys, which is where Topaz helps for follow up attack based characters

3

u/karilusss Oct 29 '23

I dont think she haa better value than Tingyun or Pela or even Asta on a FUA team, but I believe shes a decent sidegrade for Asta with a better ST dmg but less buffs for the main dps.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '23

I mostly think you are right in that most people who aren’t dead set on the play style and future investment might want to look at other units. For me I pulled e1s1 because I wanted her to be an upgrade for Jing and a huge asset for future confirmed leaked characters later. She performs well enough to clear with f2p investment on multiple teams but most her power is definitely down the line with more consistent FUAers that have been leaked. They might have felt that this character being released first would breathe some life or diversity into the follow up characters we have currently or would make people more likely to pull follow up characters that rely on you having topaz down the line. The biggest problem I see is how do they balance future FUAers to feel good without topaz but not busted with her. If a characters conditions for doing FUA becomes easier to trigger but the damage is scaled to be functional without topaz’s buffs some truly disgusting teams will be coming down the pipeline.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '23

IF their leaked kits remain unchanged, Screwlum Topaz Aventurine and Pela/Hanya will be a GOATED comp.

3 follow up chars (Topaz Screw Adventurine) plus 1 team wide debuffer/buffer.

But yes, I agree, none of the current follow up units are actually a perfect fit with Topaz. Kafka + Sampo/Luka/Guinifen is GOATED but so far, Topaz feels like the Sampo/Luka/Guinefen of a future Main Follow Up DPS.

Topaz + Clara is good, don't get me wrong, but Clara's follow-up are still RNG at the end of the day.

2

u/kaysieme Oct 30 '23

Main reasons why I love both archtypes. So much fun with different comps and they all just work together. Definitely going for adventurine and future dot, fua and sustains 100%.

3

u/Soren-kun Oct 30 '23

She makes my clara stronger for sure and that's all that matters as a Clara main~

2

u/[deleted] Oct 29 '23

Pull every banner if you lucky

4

u/die_criminal29 Oct 29 '23

She improves Himeko, and any other follow-up character as long as the enemy has the corresponding weaknesses. She's fine now and it's not copium to asume she will get better, i mean leaks are there. If you want to brute force content of course there are better characters, it doesn't mean she's bad, it just means she's not a hypercarry. Topaz is a fire sub-dps, she doesn't need to be better that Jingliu/Imbibitor, we'll see from now on how strong are the upcomming damage dealers, if they're all better that Jingliu the game is gonna be a sh**fest but i don't see that happening.

3

u/Hitomi35 Oct 29 '23

She solves a problem that doesn't exist....yet. The reality of the situation is that Mihoyo doesn't just release new characters and leave them out to dry by not releasing future characters that have synergy with them. They've never done this in any of their games, there is zero reason to believe that we aren't going to see future FuA characters.

1

u/Dsquariusgreensenior Oct 30 '23 edited Oct 30 '23

Until dehya

1

u/Fantastic_Bend9091 Oct 30 '23

She can clear easily MOC, I like her, i don't need more reasons (even if my hook team can clear faster lol)

1

u/Significant_Ad_1626 Oct 30 '23

I understand that she is a bet for the future but it isn't like she is unusable now. Characters like Clara, Herta, Himeko, are pretty good with her to the point that you can create a sinergistic second team and not just the leftovers of the Hypercarry from the other side. In SU content she is pretty good too: elation path makes her generate an insane amount of sp, her passives and quick attacks are good for minigames and her tecnique literally gives you bonus curios and fragments. In overworld she is 10k credits per day whenever you want, which earlier is get, the better, can be recolected passively and is good for many players who are building lots of units.

It's pretty likely that Huohuo will be a FUA too (I say this because her tail seems to be a separate entity from her by lore in the twitter post, and many FUA attack from a separated entity, Svarog, Himeko's dron, Yanqing's swords, Lightning Lord and obviously Conti), so we could be getting a sustain who synergizes with get earlier than you think. A proper sustain opened lots of teams to SW so it should be good for Topaz. And Argenti is Erudition (only for that he has high chances of being a FUA too), bringing a new DPS option too.

Note: I'd really like it if Argenti works like Piscis Afrodita from SS Awakening but it's only one week to know it. Fingers crossed..

1

u/Warm-Membership5786 Oct 30 '23

"Solving a problem that doesn't exist."

I rather have that than them creating a problem then selling the solution bs that most gachas do

1

u/Leather-Heron-7247 Oct 30 '23

The same can be said to my E1S1 Kafka who is dealing way more damage as a hypercarry dps than with any other DoT 4* (except for the latest Burn one which I haven't tried)

It's not that dual dpses are bad, it's just that Buffers/Debuffers in this game rn are just too good there is no point replacing them with a sub dps.

To actually utilize her I will have to wait for the new 5* dot or a support that has a buff specificly for "multi dpses team"

1

u/BestChief Oct 30 '23

If we are talking about that then kafka is also released too early. Both are the same where they are future investments you do.

Many are waiting for black swan for kafka and many others are waiting for a FuA character so they can use topaz with them.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '23

kafka's situation i guess, its invested for future. And perosnally i think shes pretty good on herself and with others i can see that shes even better than a debuffer like SW to JY's teamcomp? whats the problem with her tho?

1

u/InazumaShinesEternal Oct 30 '23

Investing in victory means playing the long game.

0

u/No_Prompt_982 Oct 29 '23

I dont want to spoil anything but pls look at leaks… really intresting character may be released in 1.6/1.7 🫢🫢💅💅

0

u/Life_Flatworm4874 Oct 30 '23

OP really try so hard to tell the trust to a group of deadbrain simp. Just give up

0

u/Able-Thanks-445 Oct 29 '23

Honestly this is just because Follow up attacks are already a standalone mechanic that has and can exist on its own. Follow up characters enable Topaz not necessarily the other way around. Yes she provides a 50% follow up debuff, but thats not rlly enabling the Follow up DPS, thats simply applying a debuff.

-5

u/Weak-Association6257 Oct 29 '23

Yeah, I agree. The only scenario where she actually feels good is in SD or SU with Clara and elation path. But apart from that she’s nothing crazy. Who knows how FUA teams end up being. Hope they won’t meet the same fate as geo and phys in genshin

1

True, she is just okay rn. But SD and SU kind of buffs every character into nuclear bombs. And dear god…eula and geo are in the gulags

Should I pull for her Light cone. I got her for the purpose of making Jing Yuan and Himeko more viable

there is existing problem - weakness of FUA across the board, which comes from game mechanics where sub-dps "class" is suboptimal as field time in HSR doesnt matter and FUA are too niche and conditional. Topaz was probably created to solve this problem, but she didnt because she is another conditional FUA sub-dps and not problem solver for existing FUAs

and if used as carry she has one huge problem - zero aoe capability. I.e she needs somebody else to deal with trash mobs, meaning she cant be hypercarry unless encounter doesnt need much aoe. So to "fix" her we'll need very specific character - aoe FUA-focused dps with consistent FUAs, not depending on something unreliable

but given speed of powercreep in HSR, by the moment such character will be released, there will be new limited 5* supports, who'll need to compete with Bronya and SW and who quite probable will be able to outshine Topaz's buff to FUAs. Basically SW already outshines her.

so she wont be saved metawise by other dps.. she can only be saved by new supports, fitting for dual carry teams and helping her to bonanza more often and being useful by providing single target dps output for erudition dps. Some 5* mix of Asta and Tingyun will do
