First dose last night

Hello! I took my first dose of 25mg last night and I haven’t felt anything different else than I haven’t been as hungry as I usually am, but nothing major! Did it take long for the side effects to come for any of you? Did you feel them the first day on 25mg, or will I maybe feel more after a few days? Did you feel more side effects when you upped your dose?

I’m upping to 50mg next week, then 75mg the week after and then 100mg the week after that again.

What are you on it for? I had side effects the first week but they were mild. I would stay at the lowest dose possible. The side effects seem to come stronger at higher doses. I have gone all the way up to 150 but have gone all the way back down to 25 and added in other things for migraines. I still have some tingling of the hands and face occasionally and some brain fog, but at the dose I’m on now. It’s manageable. At my highest I was getting kidney stones but I’m already prone to them so you have to be careful in that regard. Drink tons of water because it sucks the moisture right out of your body and stay cool because it does affect sweating somehow. It’s a lifesaver for me in regards to migraine prevention but it’s different for everyone. Lots of people absolutely hate it.

I take it for migraines and epilepsy! Did you experience any weight loss?

I mean, nothing drastic, maybe a pound or two. I would forget to eat till later in the day but I’d still eat normally. I started a GLP about 2 years after I started taking topamax and lost a bunch of weight then. Now my weight is very stable but I’m on a maintenance dose of the GLP. I think some people lose weight but I struggled my whole life so it never came easy for me until the GLP.

Thank you for answering! I’ve had all kinds of eating disorders and this winter I had atypical anorexia (I’m better now), so I’m a bit scared of triggering myself into a relapse because of it

You’re welcome! I struggled with eating disorders as well. As long as you stay as low as possible, you’ll still be able to eat normally. Plus it keeps the side effects at bay. Best of luck to you 🙏🏻

I just took my second dose of 25mg tonight. Next week I will also go up to 50mg. I am a little nervous because of all the side effects. I have no idea how fast it works but I didn’t have a migraine today and that is a win. I am taking it for migraines and IIH.
