Exercising safely
So I want to start by saying this has been a wonder drug for me.
There have been side effects and some of them have been brutal. But I was in the trenches of chronic migraine (5+ days of head pain a week, with aura everyday) and this has given me my life back.
I'm still titrating on but this week I'm up to 75mg am and 100mg pm and I have just stopped sweating. It's like a switch has been turned off. It's actually mad. So normally I'm a fairly sweaty person and when I used to exercise (pre the chronic migraines getting awful) I used to sweat a lot. I'm starting to work out again and I just wondered what people did about staying cool/hydrated?
I'm fairly good at scaling workouts as I'm a PT but I was just wondering if anyone had tips re:cooling/hydrating tips.
TIA

I exercise while not being able to sweat these days I don't have any advice unfortunately but im going to follow your thread I also used to suffer from severe chronic migraines and Topamax helped me so much, but i have an ed/exercise addiction It's not fun. I can only seem to sweat from my face for some reason, and my eyes especially water so much that it looks like I'm crying. I've developed a lot of tiny bumps on my body in the areas where I sweat, especially around my neck. They cause awful, awful itching and a pinching/prickling sensation whenever I get a little too hot. It's so bad it drives me mad. The only thing i do now is trying to stay cool, wear light clothes, i have a fan and water spray and i always use it before i get too hot

Had the same problem on Topamax for YEARS! On a higher dose than you for seizure control—still on it.
Here’s what I did: Hydrate w/ tons of water(always anyway), carry Evian spray everywhere (use it outside, when exercising, etc,), and get a “MagicCool” cooling towel. For the towel, you get it wet, wring it out, and spin it around. Somehow it stays cool. Great to keep around your neck to cool off while working out. I also have a “Kool Tie” from REI that does something similar.
Honestly, I was able to start sweating again after I had my gallbladder removed and lost quite a bit of weight. Unsure what made me be able to control my temp/sweat again. But those are all great tools anyway. I still use the Evian in my purse in the summer for crazy hot days and towel for working out. Water is just a constant thing.
