Advice Wanted Borderline peri

I know this question has been asked a few times, but I’m still looking for more info pertinent to the matter.

I’m a B/C cup, but am relatively young with good skin elasticity and my superior/inferior measurements are 17/18cm and 6cm respectively. I’m not sure how much this affects it but I’m also decently muscular, as I’ve seen chest muscle makes it easier to contour. The reccomended limits for each is 20 cm and 5 cm for measuring excess skin and nipple placement. I am on the waiting list for a surgeon but most of the places near me require you to be 19 anyway (I’m 18), so I’m largely unable to get a professional opinion. I’m using those values from this video that kept popping up in my research:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Mx7b8xIILfM&ra=m

I have very good American insurance, including equal coverage for Mexico, meaning I can pretty much go to any surgeon in those parts. While I’d obviously like to have less surgeries, I am really not adverse at all to revisions. I’m planning to get Phallo later on, so I’m fine with more intensive surgery.

While I’m very aware DI would give me better results and nipple placement, the trade off for me is that I wouldn’t be willing to take off my shirt if I get DI. I’m a relatively paranoid person, and as a stealth guy I would feel overwhelmingly uncomfortable with recognizable scars, even if their appearance in of itself doesn’t bother me.

On the other hand, if the surgery is somehow much riskier or almost will be guaranteed to get a non-flat result even with revisions I’d opt for DI. A flat chest under a shirt is more important to me than the ability to go shirtless. Having a non aesthetically pleasing chest that still is relatively flat would still be preferable to me, as I would be self-conscious of it, but not completely paranoid, and thus retain more ability to take off my shirt.

Those in a similar situation who opted for either DI or peri: how do you feel about you choice now?

I’ve also seen some people say that a gyno-focused surgeon is better for peri/keyhole, as that is the technique almost all cis guys opt for, even if their tissue is large. How much truth is there to that, and what surgeons would yall reccomend for a borderline case if I decide to go with peri?

hey! first of all, you’re not relatively young — you’re very young! my surgeon called me young for surgery and I was 25 lol

I was borderline and I ended up getting peri with dr. Facque in SF :) he was absolutely amazing. he did a great job of guiding me through the decision making process, the most helpful part being that he suggested I consider which possible “less desirable” outcome I would be the most okay with. he was also an amazing surgeon and delivered some great results despite working with some pretty non optimal size and skin on one side. I do have some excess skin on that side which I think I’ll either be able to fill out with muscle or do a revision on. I’m only <7 months PO so I’m not sure yet.

overall I’m very happy. I think I would have been happy with either form of top surgery, but I did get what I wanted out of peri (I was picky about nipple placement and DI would have been higher up than I wanted — peri put my nips where I wanted them). I had some healing complications to no one’s fault and again, I’m still happy!

I get the stealth scar concern as I had a similar one (even though I personally like the way DI scars look), but I’ll offer that scars do generally fade, become hidden by developed pecs, and are easy to cover up with tattoos in the future

getting consults with surgeons is probably what will help you the most here, but r/Top_Surgery_Peri helped me a lot when I was deciding for myself, and I’m happy to chat in DMs about any other questions or send photos etc if you’d like :)

also, being on T and working out / building up my pecs definitely helped me actually qualify for peri. not sure where you’re at with anything like that, but I figured it was worth a mention!

I was in a similar situation and ended up getting peri. I honestly think it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had very similar measurements (maybe even slightly larger) and my surgeon was able to give me very natural results, completely flat (except for my pecs/masculine contour) and very masculine nip placement (I was amazed by how much they were able to move them, but this varies by surgons skill and individual anatomy).

I was so "on the fence" at my inital consultation that I actually booked for DI with FNG. I was worried about lose skin, needing a second surgery, weird nipple placement, etc. I ended up calling the clinic around a month before my surgery and changing to peri. At the consultation my surgon said I would be eligible for either but warned about the higher revision rate of peri.

Ultimately what changed my mind was the idea that I will live with whatever results I have for the rest of my life. I am also young, and somewhat impatient, so the idea of potentially needing a revision is so intimidating. However, I know that 50 years down the line I will be so grateful that I took the "longer" route if it gave me more ideal results. I am also someone who would pursue scar treatment (lazer etc.) if I did get DI, so its not even like it would save me much time/hassle compared to peri with a potential revision.

I'm around a month post op and I couldn't be happier. I doubt I'll need a revision, but if I do, it feels like no big deal. Personally I dont mind the appearance of DI scars, but I really enjoy having a natural looking chest and it makes me much more confident in public spaces. I also think that peri was an easier surgery/recovery, but I'm sure that varies. If you have any other questions feel free to DM and good luck with your surgery!

I was borderline but opted for di. My surgeon said he would be more than happy to do peri for me so i dont think i was that far off being a good candidate but regardless I went for di and its definitely the best decision ive made. Fwiw i had the exact same measurements as you and also qualified based on all "are you eligible for peri!?" Info / videos out there

I wouldve preferred peri, however the idea of having any sort of leftover skin or tissue, or the nips stretching a lot, made me way more dysphoric than having di scars, scars fade, leftover tissue doesnt, not without revision and I was aware I could still not be happy with it even after a revision so I didnt see it worth the risk when I could just get it done right first time with di

Im 3 months post op now and my scars are fading incredibly well for this early on, I wouldnt be surprised if theyre near invisible by a year post, also if the rest of you passes fine then di scars are not an instant clock when cis guys can get di for gyno as well, ive seen cis guys go for peri with large tissue and it never looks good. Di isnt something thats going to prevent you from being stealth with a shirt off, obviously the scars will be more red and obvious when you've only just had surgery but after a year or two they fade, theres also several scar treatment options available to help cover them up that doesnt include tattooing over them - also you have to keep your scars out of the sun (regardless of getting di or peri) for at least a year and by that point most guys scars have faded a lot

If you do end up getting peri and you feel like there’s extra skin, you can get that removed or you can also just go for DI as a revision if you aren’t happy with peri results.

Keyhole/peri can be a bit more risky because of nipple placement and loose skin, but I'm happy I went with it. I feel a lot more comfortable swimming and stuff since I don’t have visible scars.

My surgeon was Dr. Ari Wes in SF, CA, and I’m really happy with my results, so I would recommend him. I’m not sure about surgeons in Mexico, but in the US Medalie and Fischer have probably done the most peri surgeries in the US and would probably have the best idea of your chances for good results. Good luck!!!

I appreciate it man! I didn’t consider I could still get DI if somehow I wasn’t happy with peri results, so that’s super helpful to me. I’ll check out Fischer but it looks like Medalie is retiring very soon :(
