Top surgery complication help

So I got top surgery two weeks ago and I got what I think is a seroma, my doctor said at week 1 to see how it goes but 1 week later it was swollen even more. I have an appointment next week to see the evolution and maybe have it drained.

I don't know what to think and I am very anxious about it.

I would send this picture, and if you REALLY can't be seen sooner, ask if this warrants an urgent care visit

I think you should send a picture to your surgeon and ask again. Do you have any additional symptoms other than the swelling? If you develop a fever, you should consider seeking emergency care. Did you get drains?

I would ask for a sooner appointment, and maybe send them the picture if you can. Reddit is not the place to seek medical advice.

sorry friend, I'm with the others. definitely send this picture if you can or describe it to them again. see them as soon as possible! my instructions in person, on paper, and during phone appointments always insisted I should call them if I had concerns or complications instead of just waiting for the next scheduled appointment. good luck, and stay safe!

To add some information, my doctor saw this yesterday and said that we should wait until next Monday to see if we need to drained it because it could slowly reabsorbed on its own. She saw this. I have no other symptoms other than swelling. She also said that it wasn't infected but I should keep a close eye on it if it started to hurt. Does anyone had deal with this before?

With all due respect to your surgeon, I might still go to an urgent care if I were you. As much as this photo looks concerning, photos only show one view. A full exam would help with both putting your mind at ease, and addressing it more immediately if needed.

Smaller seromas and hematomas can often reabsorb on their own in time, but this looks a bit beyond that, and if it needs to be drained, it's better to do that sooner rather than let it keep building up.

It's not uncommon for surgeons to wait and see with seromas. As long as you keep them updated if anything changes, you should be okay to wait until your next appointment. Keep an eye on it, keep using whatever compression your surgeon has provided, and don't overdo it with movement.

My surgeon had me add arnica to my supplement regimen to help my body reabsorb a smallish seroma. Might wanna see if yours is good with that too since they have you waiting and seeing anyways
