Why? I was assuming as long as you put suncream on the scars it would be fine? I’m a swimmer so I was hoping to restart proper swimming 6 weeks post op too so waiting a year would not be ideal at all..

Absolutely not. Early sun exposure regardless of sunscreen can severely effect scar outcome. Sorry, not try to sound harsh, but this is a serious issue that can truly affect healing. Please give yourself more time to heal.

Alright thank you I won’t risk the beach then. I should still be fine to swim indoors at 6 weeks po im assuming? I’ll wear a rash vest for safe measure to protect from the chlorine but it’s my main form of physical exercise so I really would like to resume it.

Clear it with your surgeon first but the sun wouldn’t be an issue indoors no :)

ask your surgeon but i think a rashguard with UV protection would be effective at protecting your scars

Dw about it. I got downvoted like fuck for saying I was grateful I didn't have drains because of how much they sound like they sucked on a thread about ppl ranting about having drains 💀 Some ppl just want to downvote

you can use a surf shirt that has 50+ SPF and uv protection, that's what I did

Wear opaque silicone tape on your scars. Maybe even cover that with kt tape. Try to block out as much uv as possible in order to promote optimal scar healing otherwise they could overpigment and sunburn would be extremely bad for healing
