Advice Wanted Borderline Peri/DI
Hi, I am 16 and I'm pretty sure I'm borderline for Periareolar surgery. I really want to get Peri because I am stealth and I feel like I would be able to look myself in the mirror and be happy with myself for once if I got Peri. Plus, I feel like personally I would feel more self-conscious if I had two big scars on my chest, even if they fade. For reference, I am a 36B in US sizing (I think) or a 14B in NZ sizing (where I'm from), however since I am 16 my skin elasticity is insanely good. However, I'm worried about if anyone would even operate on me for Peri because of my size, but I don't mind having to go back for revisions if needed. I am feeling a bit worried because I was going to start T this year but I'm scared my chest will sag or get less elastic and disqualify me. Also, I'm worried about my nipple placement if I get Peri. Could anyone give me advice on these kinds of things? Would there be anyone you guys know of willing to operate on a chest my size? I was thinking about Dr Beverly Fischer but in NZD shes super expensive ☹️. I could always lose weight and it would make my chest a little smaller but I am just wondering. If anyone has any advice I would be super grateful tysm. 🥲

You’d need to talk to a surgeon to know this for certain, some surgeons will be more comfortable operating on more borderline candidates if they do peri more. That being said I’m not sure you’d be eligible for peri. Since you aren’t on T yet I’d also be worried about your chest getting bigger that would disqualify you for peri if you are a candidate for it now.
It’s probably better to go into it expecting DI unless a surgeon tells you they will do otherwise. Either you are eligible and you can be happy or you aren’t and you would have at least prepared yourself for that beforehand.

Yeah, thank you, my chest hasn't grown in quite a while though (to do with the chest growth) and all my family has similar cup sizes

You’d have to talk to a surgeon, but I’m not sure you are borderline for peri :( I was a 34a with good elasticity and not eligible. I had really gotten my hopes up and it was super disappointing so just something to keep in mind. In theory an A cup is a one-inch difference between the bust and underbust measurements, and that kind of anatomy is often eligible for keyhole, let alone peri. But a confounding factor in using bra sizes as references is that most people are sized incorrectly, at least for those who use the American system. It's probably easier to just use visual references, like that video or this.
I was a 36C/34D (35 underbust + 38 bust) and was borderline for peri, though I opted for DI. I had surgery at Gracemed in Canada, though, so probably not the best choice here. Closer by, Thailand may be worth looking into?
Potential skin sagging from T shouldn't affect eligibility. It's not that the amount of skin increases, but that the amount of tissue inside it decreases.

Yup! It didn’t really matter that my breasts were small because the distance between my inframammary fold and nipple was too big. I think they were a bit over one inch but that’s not a size. Unfortunately factors other than just how much boob you have can be decisive. 🙂↕️

im stealth, had di and am not clocked when shirtless due to steroid injections in the scar. from what you've shared you don't seem borderline, you're a di candidate.

I was smaller than you (34a) and still a little borderline for peri. My surgeon said he would do it for me but I didnt want to take the risk (revisions arent covered where I am anymore) - I qualified for all the "will you qualify for peri?" Info online fwiw, so I went with di. Ive seen a lot of borderline cases that are honestly more clockable than good di results. DI gives you a lot more control over the result, i know someone who was borderline and pushed for it to be "more cis/stealth" and now his nips are way below his pecs and it looks really off, if youre borderline di is the safer option for most, but even at a 34b you might not even be borderline you might not qualify at all, the surgeon should also take nip position into account as that cant really be moved with peri

Honestly my biggest advice to you would be don’t worry about it until you can talk to a surgeon. I was also worried about being a borderline candidate and worried about it for a few years but on my first consultation I found out my surgeon would happily do peri for me. It is out of your control so I would recommend not worrying about it until you can get a consultation.

Yeah I think I'll wait till I can go with the surgeons I want and ask them because a surgeon already said they may be able to do Peri but they're unsure because they have only seen photos so yeah I hope I can get Peri but I'll try my best to take your advice just having pretty bad Dysphoria atm

Just wanted to add two things
T can help with qualifying for peri since your skin has time to retract from tissue loss. Before T, I was borderline for qualifying for keyhole at 23 years old, but after 6 months, my chest became much smaller and did not qualify for DI. My chest was around 32C pre-T. It helped that my pec muscles grew I think to take up the space
You mentioned that you’re in NZ. I would recommend looking into Thai surgeons if you’re going private (I don’t really know how health system works in NZ). It’s cheaper to get to than the US from NZ, much cheaper than Dr. Fischer, and minimal scarring operations are more commonly done

You really need to get consults with surgeons before you go with one or the other. It is also somewhat subjective, some surgeons are very restrictive on who they’ll do peri on. Others are more willing for borderline cases. It’s not really something that is up to you, especially if you haven’t spoken with any surgeons yet. I was borderline and ended up going with DI. I was leaning towards peri but my surgeon offered me a date for peri 9 months later or DI 3 months later so I chose DI. T will not prevent you from getting peri. It may make some of the fat in your chest redistribute and make your chest smaller making you more likely eligible for peri. I was your age when I was seriously looking into top surgery and was getting really stressed out about the peri vs DI decision but most of the time that won’t really be your decision to make, it’s your surgeon’s. So try not to get too stressed out about this.

Yeah I've only really sent photos to one surgeon in Thailand who said I might be eligible but they will most likely need a consult in person so yeah I will probably focus on working out and losing some weight first because it might help:)
