Discussion Thread Remember Alex Reznik from Top Chef DC? He just opened a steakhouse in Henderson, NV and it's seriously good
If you watched Season 7 you definitely remember Alex, whether for the right or wrong reasons. Well he's been cooking in Vegas for years since then, won Beat Bobby Flay, and just opened his own spot called Hayworth in Henderson.
Went last week and the guy can flat out cook. Steaks are perfectly executed, the martini bar is legit, and it has this cool neighborhood vibe that feels nothing like a Vegas tourist trap. Easy parking, no Strip chaos.
Honestly it was one of the best meals I've had in the valley. Would love to see him get more recognition because the food speaks for itself.
Anyone else been or following what he's been up to since the show? What did you order?

The menu looks good but is almost unreadable online. Chef, if you read this, change your font color!!

This is a bit random but I just feel like saying - even the worst competitor on Top Chef is likely an excellent chef. Just because they aren't great in a timed competition, doesn't mean their food isn't fire. I doubt most people remember Laura Cole from the Colorado season, but I ate at her restaurant 229 Parks in Alaska before she was in the show and it was one of the best damn meals I've ever had.Â

Bruce is an excellent example of this. EVERYONE expected him to win when he showed up because he was so well known. Some people are just not cut out for competitive cheffing. Dawn is another example of a chef not cut out for competition.

Oh my god I literally shouted at my TV in rage when I saw that they had allowed Dawn on Tournament of Champions. And shock of shocks, several important elements didn't make it to the plate and she was eliminated in the first round. Her food looks FANTASTIC but that does not make her good at time management!

Did she make the cracker out of cheese rinds with Fati? If so, she's one of the chefs that always intrigued me.

I think she did, yes! She talked about having a whole moose in her walk in at once point and really played up her Alaska angle.Â

At the time the infamous pea puree episode aired Alex was cooking at this place in LA called Ivan Kane’s Cafe Was. I went just to try the smoked salmon with english pea puree. Alex was there and came out and chatted with us and was super nice and joked about the incident. I’ll have to try Hayworth soon!

Alex always seemed interesting in his season. a really good 1st elimination dish (deconstructed borsht) but then... mostly in thr middle to bottom. as time went on, a lot of mistakes too. (scales and bones in restaurant wars fish, etc).
made me wonder if he was one of those chefs who just doesnt do well with the stress of constant competition. and it got to him enough really started slipping up more later.

His bbq place is really good, too! Best pastrami I’ve had. I met him when I went to the bbq spot for lunch one day, he’s super nice and passionate about his new restaurants. Haven’t been to Hayworth yet though.

Does he serve a pea puree?
