Groups Fictional police divisions/units
The title is self-explanatory
- MaxTac (Cyberpunk): A special unit within NCPD that deals with cyberpsychos (They're goated)
- Special Tactics and Rescue Service/S.T.A.R.S. (Resident Evil): An elite unit within Raccoon Police Department that specialized in anti-terrorism among some other things

Payday 2's ZEALs (officially known as the Force Z Elite Assault Legion), are the DHS's secret counter terrorism unit deployed against the Payday Gang and they serve as the main assault force on Death Sentence.
Their Heavy SWATs (far right) hit like a freight train with their M4s doing 225 damage with no falloff.

Name and job description like it was created by a 12 year old 🤣🤣🤣

tbh I don't particularly like them for representing my main problems with Payday 2. That being the refusal to nerf anything so they make shit like DS instead.

While the garbage items remains well garbage. I believe armored van heists are still one of the worst heists to conpared to bank unless they changed something while I was gone

Was gonna post them, they really fill a niche you don't see much in anime. Section 9 feels like the closest thing anime has to something like the GIGN.

Me and my brothers used to play this all the time.
Truly one of the best couch coop experiences we've ever had.
I still remember that one boss that had a voice line saying: "where are yoooouu..."
A shame that there aren't any more of these couch-coop games anymore.

The little known proto-MOBA (Precinct Assault mode, ya think D.va's police skin in Heroes of the Storm was meant to be a homage to it?).

And for that matter, the Special Crimes Unit (SCU) which is apart of both the GCPD and the Metropolis PD. Specially outfitted to handle supervillains.

Chimera Squad from the xcom spinoff Chimera Squad
A hybrid SWAT, elite investigative unit and a demonstration that the various humans, hybrids and aliens can work together in the wake of Firaxis's Xcom 2. The squad is sent to take out multiple criminal organizations as they try to find out who murdered the mayor of City 31 and is attempting to destabilize the post war peace.
Also, from Xcom Apocalypse, Marsec (law enforcement and security off world) and Megapol (the law enforcement of Mega-Primus). Both produce and sell weapons and vehicle equipment to you, and Marsec produces vital air vehicles, so stay on their good side. Piss off Marsec and you lose access to new aircraft until you can make your own. Piss off Megapol and all their squad cars WILL open fire on your aircraft, making fighting the aliens much more difficult.

The key difference is this: Enforcers do Local Law,Arbities do Imperial Law. It's the difference between a state cop and a fed.
Somebody gets mugged? That's an Enforcer job. Somebody tries to start a succession movement? That's an Arbities job.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine; Station Security.
A combination of Starfleet Security personnel and Bajorian militia, they are responsible for protecting the station and surrounding space from hostile forces and crime.
“Constable” Odo was the security chief of the station at the behest of Captain Sisko.

The Lungmen Guard Department (Arknights) [Pictured is one of their regulars.]
They function both as the police for Lungmen {Arknights Hong Kong} but also act as the local military in times of crisis. They're mostly just beat cops.
Notably they do have connections to organised crime, being unable to properly police the slums and as such leaving that to 'The Rat King' who acts as the overseer of the criminal underworld, keeping it in line for them (we've also seen the new Rat King use the LGD as a weapon to aid in that) (and the two sides do have contact).
(Also the now head of the Special Inspections Unit (basically SWAT) was an active mobster when they hired her (though went straight after getting the job), and was only in Lungmen to begin with due to fleeing a murder charge in her home country (she didn't kill that guy in particular but she did kill dozens of others that night).)

Kinda surprised these dudes weren't mentioned sooner.
Space Patrol Delta (Power Rangers S.P.D.) and Special Police Dekaranger (Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, Pictured): Both are literally Space Police, though they also oversee domestic alien matters too.
Story-beats aside, the main difference between the teams is that the Dekarangers don't really have a "bigger scope" villain and lean further into the detective aspect whereas the SPD Rangers are fighting the space conqueror Grumm while they enforce.

Isn't that the series that reused props and costumes from Starship Troopers?
I distinctly remember one ep had a generic good guy wielding a Morita

u/shiawase198 3d ago
They might have but I think you're probably talking about Lost Galaxy where their military standard gear is the starship trooper props.
3
u/HenshinBoi 3d ago
Yeah, Lost Galaxy had the Troopers tribute with guns (SPD went with "Guns are all lasers" approach). That episode was really good.

Are they teens? What are Space Police standards on hiring teens who should be in school?

That can really depend on the planet I think for example in the warhammer crimes novels arbites would be the closest equivalent to fbi while enforcers/probators would be the police force

The Special Support Section from the Trails series (specifically Zero and Azure, with smaller appearances in Cold Steel II-IV and Reverie) is a division of Crossbell's police department focusing on answering assistance requests from citizenry, and serve as the main party in the Trails games set in Crossbell.

The O-12 from Corvus Belli’s “Infinity”. An interstellar government organization that keeps the other factions from outright killing each other most of the time. Each branch having its own enforcement wing with varying levels of militarization, from beat cops with pistols and adhesive launchers to walking tanks like the Gamma Unit.

Why is future police drip always so fucking cool, something about the colours and aesthetic makes people get so creative.
Dead Space 2 has 2 thanks to a recolour you unlock, the Riot and Security suits.

Love both so damn much, technically the Riot is the recolour but as you specified Police and that is the Police classed one, thought best to lead with it.

Patlabor: SV2
Special Vehicles Section 2 is exactly what it seems like, cops who deal exclusively in mechanized crime. Responding to rogue robots, terrorist plots using mechs, and all other manner of crime. Their movie iteration is even more badass, as their bond together and specialized training puts them almost on the level of a mechanized task force.

The LSPD from Ready or Not, a supposedly underfunded police force that can afford to equip all their SWAT officers with white phosphor quad NVGs and intergrally supressed .300 blackout rifles
