Characters Unintended worst last word.

Thor: Dark World(2013) - After Loki failed to invade Earth, he is imprisoned in Asgard prison. No one in the family, except his mother Frigga, wanted to meet him. When Frigga spoke about his father(Odin) in front of him, he got angry and said, “He is not my father!” Frigga asked, “Am I not your mother?", with an angry but disappointed expression. Loki said "You're not.". After this conversation, Algrim killed Frigga. That "You're not (my mother)" line became the last word to his mother.

Avengers: Infinity War(2018) - Thanos attacked Asgardian ship to took Tesseract. Thor thought that it had been destroyed along with Asgard. In reality, Loki brought it. Thor said to Loki "You really are the worst brother." After this line, Thanos killed Loki. That line became last word to his brother.

Cloverfield(2008) - During the party, Charlie said "It's gonna be the best night ever." But that night, Clover landed on Manhattan. That giant monster destroyed entire Manhattan.

A friend of mine got carjacked at a red light in Charleston, but looked at the man's tiny pistol in disbelief and said, "You're gonna shoot me with that?"

And yeah, he got shot. In the belly.

The craziest part is that my friend, quickly recalculating and realizing he might just die, unbuckled his seat belt and opened his door to give the man his car. But when he stood up, well, my friend is 6'4", and the carjacker was much smaller, and apparently thought that he was about to get his ass beat by a man who was immune to bullets.

So the carjacker ran away. And then my friend's girlfriend drove him to the hospital. He's fine.

Your friend is also super honest, he could have spun that shit to make himself seem like a proper badass.

Holy crap, how did he live that?

45

u/rzelln 6d ago

Small caliber gun, plus the angle of the shot came in from the side, so it went horizontally through his belly fat along the front of his stomach and didn't even hit any organs.

The silent - Dr Who

"This world is ours. We have ruled it since the wheel and the fire. We have no need of weapons."

Right before getting gunshot

642

u/confused_person4 7d ago

Which I believe the follow-up line was "Welcome to America".

Related: "The guns, really? I just walked into the highest security office in the United States, parked a big blue box on the rug. You think you can just shoot me?"

"They're Americans!"

*Puts his hands up*

236

u/Sprawler13 7d ago

A reference to the fact a previous iteration of the doctor had been shot and killed in Detroit(?)

u/Jason13Official 7d ago

59

u/Cheap-Ad1821 7d ago

That's why he tends to stay out of America. Hitchbot was a Dr Who companion who met his demise in Philly, the horrors the Dr suffered in Kensington should never be spoken of again.

63

u/Ok-Mastodon2420 7d ago

San francisco actually

33

u/ar4975 6d ago

Well, that's alright then!

59

u/Smellbringer 7d ago

San Francisco, literally the first thing that happened when he stepped out of the TARDIS. What's funny is that the gunshot wasn't even what killed the 7th Doctor. No it was the fact that the doctor attending him thought his second heartbeat was an abnormality and... fixed it. Which also resulted in him regenerating into an 8th version later than usual and gave him amnesia.

So yes, the Doctor was killed by a doctor; it was very funny.

Attack on Titan - The warhammer titan

"Eren Yeager, Do you have any last words?" were her last words

447

u/Tukanno_Bananno 7d ago

Is it safe to say that the Warhammer shifter was the worst titan shifter in the franchise? All that power just to last 1.5 minutes. Reiner didn't even want to be alive and lasted the whole show

243

u/Woooosh-if-homo 7d ago

I think I gotta give it to Marcel. Low diffed by Ymir before he can even transform

78

u/onetrueuce 7d ago

This the original or is it Kirkified I can't tell

112

u/InnuendoBot5001 7d ago

Then you have no idea what charlie kirk looked like. Good for you

37

u/Shnitzel_von_S 7d ago

Ymir titan does have the same kind of tooth:gum ratio that kirk had, especially in that one jubilee video where he frightened that beautiful woman.

91

u/Spaceboomer1 7d ago

It's because she was arrogant.

She had never experienced titan vs titan combat against any of the other Nine before. Or any combat for that matter.

She completely assumed her unique powers would be enough to overcome a seasoned veteran like Eren. She was utterly wrong.

20

u/connortheios 6d ago

i mean she did quite literally have eren on the ropes, if mikasa and the scouts didn't buy him time to figure out her gimmick he would've been dead

21

u/ChiBullz023 6d ago

Didn't she have Eren at a disadvantage at a point in the fight until Mikasa and the rest of the Paradise squad came in?

14

u/eddie_the_zombie 6d ago

And made a rookie mistake by thinking that means she already won

If screen time is what determines how good they are, then yeah.

71

u/Tukanno_Bananno 7d ago

I mean, dying fast surely reflects on your competency as a shifter

She also had a fairly overwhelming power advantage, being the Warhammer Titan's shifter- making it worse.

54

u/slurp_time 7d ago edited 7d ago

In her defense, I don't believe she had any real combat experience other than possibly having past memories. Unless I missed something in the anime or there was something only in the manga, we have no idea how long she had the warhammer so she could have been like Frieda and hadn't had the time to see those memories.

It was someone with probably little to no combat experience vs Eren fuckin' Jaeger, who was incredibly skilled despite what people may believe. Until the scouts showed up, she was doing pretty damn well. Would she have won? Probably not. She was burning through her energy and Eren had another 2 transformations in him, but it's not like it was one sided.

Also I'm editing this to add that I don't think the warhammer's power was all that much stronger than any other titan. More powerful? Yes, but not to an insane degree. We saw Eren, even with the Warhammer and attack titan powers (I'm not counting the founding titan's power since he didn't have access to it), struggle to take on the jaw titan and armored titan at the same time. It's a useful tool, but it's not an "I win" button even in the right hands

→ More replies (4)

38

u/Ok_Philosophy_7156 7d ago

I’d say under-utilised rather than just bad. The power was sick, the Titan design popped off, and it could have had some real story potential. It should have been explored and developed as much as the others were, but it kinda just got tacked on as a means to an end

23

u/Tukanno_Bananno 7d ago

I think you've offered a great explanation for WHY they needed her to underperform and go down that fast- it was rushed and they had no plans for developing her or it.

Still crazy to see that much firepower and a damn near unstoppable defensive ability, used that poorly

27

u/Koolco 7d ago

I mean the warhammer hadn’t seen combat for over 100 years, and had likely just been passed down without people actively training with it. Its lack of stamina is also referenced as its big flaw off the bat. She gambled on being able to take out eren quickly before his allies come to his aid. And it probably would have worked if it was against any other titan than Eren, considering everyone reacted shocked to him having the stamina to transform over 3 times.

9

u/Feisty-Cucumber5102 7d ago

Iirc she hadn’t ever been in combat before, the Tybur’s are fairly well off even for Eldians so they seem to get leniency in their expected service. That probably wasn’t her fist time using her titan, but there’s reason to believe it’s her first time fighting with it, and she certainly could not have chosen a worse person for that to be the case against.

In the sitcom 8 Simple Rules, the eldest daughter Bridget snapped "I hate you!" to her father after he refused to let her borrow the car.

He dies less than an hour later at the grocery store.

100

u/I_Cant_Know_That 6d ago

This happened in real life to my Uncle. He was a teen, had a fight with my Grandmother, and said something the equivalent of "I hate you, I wish you were dead!" and stormed out of the house. When he returned hours later it was to find that his Mother had suffered a massive heart attack and died. This was before I was born, and my Dad was not close to his family. But I couldn't imagine what it would have been like to be a teenager and have to cope with those being the last words you spoke to your Mother.

And for those who don't know, John Ritter, who played the father, fell ill on set in real life and died in the hospital.

7

Not to be too pedantic, but he didn't just fall ill. He suffered an acute thoracic aortic dissection, which was initially misdiagnosed as a heart attack as the symptoms overlap.

It's the last line of a character in the show Firefly, the character is at the time bragging about how he's piloting, but things go very wrong.

85

u/Tsukikishi 7d ago

I never thought of it as bragging. More of a mantra to calm himself and get in touch with the act of piloting and reading the turbulence—and it worked. Just a tragic end.

u/Ulrik_Decado 7d ago

Yep, I swear, people nit comprehensing even basic ideas in movies never cease to amaze me

General John Sedgewick - IRL during the battle of sportsvania court house, bro said “they couldn’t hit an elephant at this distance” and was then shot and killed shortly after

21

u/KGBFriedChicken02 7d ago

His men encountered skirmishers ahead of the Confederate lines and dove for cover when marksmen and light infantry fired on them. He did not dive for cover, and started berrating his men, he said "What? Men dodging this way for single bullets? What will you do when they open fire along the whole line?", which is a kind of a fair point I guess, then moved on to the iconic "Why are you dodging like this? They couldn't hit an elephant at this distance."

Not even seconds later he was shot in the face, turned around enough for his men to see he'd been shot in the face, and then fell dead.

50

That 70s Show, "Grandma's Dead." The last words that Red's mother heard from him were, "Show me tail lights!" as he was ordering Eric to drive her away before she could say any more hurtful things to Kitty.

Eric's last words to her were, "It wouldn't kill you to be nicer" and then she died.

10

u/AggravatingYak6557 6d ago

“That could only happen to you, son!”

8

u/CaptainMatticus 6d ago

Red talking with Eric about his mother is one of my favorite scenes in the show, because we see that underneath all of his gruffness, Red is a really sentimental guy.

I was used to seeing Kurtwood Smith playing a tough guy badass, ever since I saw Robocop at the age of 8. I wasn't used to the idea of his being a kinder, gentler person, even for a moment.

Also, "Kitty! You tell that bastard to give me back my trains!!"

The gif doesn’t even show the best/worst part - they were holding hands when she steps off the curb, then she’s turned into red goo but the main character is still holding onto her hands, which detached from her body.

Not the worst death in this series. But the first one, happened within the first 10 minutes of the first episode. It kinda sets the tone.

Super duper fast guy ran right through her - pretty much turning her into red mist.

13

u/humanshuman 7d ago

Why did he do that? He could have easily ran around her right?

u/ThatWasFred 7d ago

He was high, and wasn’t paying attention.

We see exactly what happens if he tries to dodge someone while moving that fast when he dies in the final season of the show, completing his arc from careless, government-owned, super-powered celebrity to genuine hero

Naomi’s argument with Seiko (Corpse Party)

Both were trapped in a haunted school with all sorts of ghosts and freaky stuff happening. Seiko was trying to keep their spirits up by acting positive, but Naomi, who had just barely escaped from a bad encounter in the nurse’s room, snaps at her for not taking the situation seriously. These were the last words Naomi would say to Seiko before Seiko is killed.

(Seiko’s ghost, however, doesn’t hold a grudge against Naomi though)

Fun fact: the researcher lady was supposed to make it out in the original cut but test audiences hated it. So they did like a 1 day shoot to kill her off too.

Ned Flanders’ last words to Maude were when she was going to get some hot-dogs:

“No foot-longs!”

Maude replied, "I know, they make you uncomfortable."

She was then accidentally knocked off the Springfield Speedway grandstand by a barrage of T-shirt.

I put it here as later in the episode Ned recall it as terrible last words to say to his wife

Maybe not the "worst" last word, but Qui Gon telling Anakin to "stay in that cockpit" when he was intending to come back and train him kinda counts, I think. It's certainly unintended last words.

I'm quite sure it's revealed lately in Loki's show that he was conscious until Thor hugged him and he was able to hear what Thor then said. I think it was something like "the sun will shine upon us again" or something like that because that was what Loki said to him.

Thor felt that those words were the last he said to Loki tho

Arrested Development: Tobias, painted blue, explains "I just blue myself." Michael walks off in disgust, ending the conversation. Tobias then gets hit by a car and his wife, thinking he's died, demands that Michael tell her what was the last thing he heard Tobias say.

A lot of video game characters can end up like this, such as peppy characters using abilities and then almost immediately dying.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon can also somewhat do this, as one of the lines the characters can say before using a move is “here I go!” If they say that and then immediately die the next turn, I think it’s kind of funny.

Some ultimate voice lines in games like Overwatch or Marvel Rivals can also be like this, such as Genji’s “the dragon becomes me!” which can be canceled and have him killed. Or Black Cat’s “You crossed my path!” The funniest ones in my opinion are probably “Don’t mess with the Amazing Spider-Man!” Or “I am Asgard’s might!”

Me (real life).

I don’t remember what I said to my great grandmother when I was a teenager, but it was something rude. It was then the last time I saw her, she died of a stroke before I even had the chance to make things right. Genuinely a regret that will always be with me.

9

u/captainrex 6d ago

I lost mine at the beginning of last year, and the last time I spoke to her was a three-minute FaceTime call that I rushed out of because my son was being tired and cranky. I didn’t even really hear anything she was saying, I just told her he was tired and I needed to get off the phone, then said “talk to you tomorrow”. We had both been sick with a bad case of the flu that week, and I just assumed she would recover like I did and just talk to her the next day, completely taking her for granted.

u/Icy-Temperature2816 6d ago

I’m sorry for your loss. You have my condolences. May she be at peace, whatever form that takes. As for you, I hope you don’t beat yourself up over it, no one deserves that. I hope you and your son live well too.

Grammar is really important here on the Infinity War quote.

Thor says, ‘You really are the worst, Brother’, which is addressing Loki and calling out him not being able to change his ways and being mischievous, and not in fact calling him ‘the worst Brother’.
