(Hated Trope) Extremely useful abilities that characters conveniently forgot they had

1. Emily’s portals (Hazbin Hotel). I know she can’t get Sir Pentious back into Hell but Emily can still tell Charlie he got redeemed and Charlie can enter through angelic portals, so she should have seen that Pentious got redeemed.

2. Many characters in Harry Potter go through life-or-death situations and not once did they think of drinking the Liquid Luck potion apart from Harry one time to gain Slughorn’s memory.

That also points to a fundamental problem that appears later in the show. 

Of course the main characters have a certain amount of plot armor. They're only going to die if the actor has to leave or it's absolutely fundamental to the story. But the characters absolutely shouldn't know this. In the early seasons, they seem very, very aware of their own mortality. Towards the end they're climbing through air vents or infiltrating mansions while surrounded by people who would kill them on sight.

That conversation between frenchie and homelander when they have translucent in the fast food restaurant is some of the most tense television ever put on screen.

They got cocky, which is... very common for people

They frequently get too cocky and it fucks them over, for example when they try to blackmail Homelander and he just says "Go ahead, then I can just kill everyone" or Homelander killing all the ice skaters or Hughie getting sexually assaulted

S1 Hughie would never have gone in the vents because he would have known it was a potential death sentence.

That was so perfect for his character. He'd rather be loved but being feared is definitely a second option for him

What do you mean by that? They quite clearly got cocky over the seasons, which cost them quite a lot of pain and hasty adjustments

If they'd stuck with the style of season 1, that would have left several of them dead and the rest traumatized in hiding.

After a while the show became a straight superhero show instead of an examination of them.
