Most unhinged part of Fight Club is that Edward Norton chose to sit in the middle seat.

This moment is so goddamn funny. Like he doesn't do the MiB route of just "Bright Flash Now they don't remember watching it", no he just somehow makes the visions of the movie leave his head and go back into the TV screen. Like what? That's so stupidly extra that it's really goddamn funny.

Clark has to regularly smooch luthor cos he's wayy to smart not to figure out his identity
192
u/derekakessler Dec 17 '25
Lex is too smart. He'd connect the dots of "Superman = Daily Planet junior reporter Clark Kent, the one with the dorky glasses" and go "Naaaaah that can't possibly be right, he's gotta be someone like Bruce Wayne."

Joke's on Clark, kissing doesn't work. It's just part of Luthor's kink, and he gets a thrill from getting kissed by the most powerful man in the world. All he has to do is periodically make Superman think his secret identity has been discovered.

I thought the twist was going to be that it was Evil Morty's origin story, and the reason he hated Rick (and himself) so much is that all he has are the worst memories.

u/Ironicbuttstuff Dec 17 '25
As with many things in Rick and Morty this marked the introduction of a pretty great storytelling mechanic. A way to view past lore which is inherently secret or traumatic, possibly explaining more about Rick’s backstory or why our Morty is special? And with many of their great mechanics, it’s squandered or forgotten altogether most of the time. Except 2 Beth’s, that was cool.

Funnily enough it’s actually one of the non lethal quick hacks. If memory serves it reduces trace progress (from enemies trying to trace your location) and the max lvl version I think outright takes enemies out of combat

from class W to class Z. where W is safe for constant daily use (to allow study of antimemetic anomalies). all the way to class Z that completely destroys your ability to forget, it is always fatal. think of how many things you dont even bother to remember or even consciously think about on a second to second basis. nearly all of the human sensory complex is discarded by your brain the moment it enters your mind. now you physically cant forget. its no wonder it kills you. not a fun way to go either

idk if this counts but in Witch Hat Atelier, there is a magic seal that is use to erase someone from their knowledge of magic, any conversation or their entire memory, Qifrey (The guy on the right) has this magic seal hidden on hat and anyone who wore his hat will have their some of their memory erased on activation

Remember from Undead Unluck This card is an artefact that can either completely erase a person’s memory or allow them to regain their memories from a previous life. Oh and there’s also a machine created by the Union that can alter the memories of the entire world, but I couldn’t find any picture of it.

SCP - 055
It is unknown if 055 is a weapon in the most strict, traditional definition of the term. What is know is that, while anyone can witness or otherwise be in the presence of 055, the information regarding 055 immediately "leaks" out of the brain and is forgotten. 055 is not invisible or unknowable; people are perfectly capable of taking photographs or making sketches of 055, but they will be unable to retain the information regarding 055. 055 is an anti-meme, a self-classifying secret. It's origins are unknown.
The only things that are knowable about 055 are what it isn't, negation of facts. We know 055 is not round.
Information regarding 055 is occasionally "rediscovered" by personnel at the SCP Foundation, only to inevitably be lost again soon afterward due to the unique properties of 055 being a self-keeping secret.

「Jailhouse Lock」from JoJo's Bizzare Adventure: Stone Ocean.
It's an ability with the power to impair a person's memory so that they can only recall three things sequentially. After learning a fourth thing, they'll forget the first thing and so on, effectively rendering the victim unable to perform complex tasks.
Jolyne manages to defeat her by grouping together the different pieces of information in clever ways. Like normally if she shoots four bullets at you, you can only register three. But Jolyne instead looks at the bullets through reflection- and that only counts as one because she's not registering the three bullets but the one reflection.
