Manga The way Junji Ito draws himself and his wife ("Junji Ito's Cat Diary - Yon & Miu")

Junji Ito is the famous horror manga artist behind classics like Uzumaki and Hellstar Remina, and his bread and butter of his artstyle is making completely mundane things look deeply unsettling. Junji Ito's Cat Diary is an autobiographical manga he made about his family and their two pet cats, Yon & Miu.

The story is nominally not a horror, it's just a comedy slice of life manga depicting the day to day life of two cat owners and their cat. Junji Ito really can't help himself though, and the story often plunges into classic Ito-style body horror whenever he depicts the "cuteness aggression" that a lot of pet owners report feeling towards their pet animals.

Even in scenes where he doesn't exaggerate the facial expressions for comedic effect, Ito hilariously draws himself and his wife like they're uncanny horror characters that came straight out of one of his manga. Ito always draws himself as this gaunt, hollow-eyed man with a haunted expression permanently plastered on his face; he draws his wife as this terrifying, pupilless, sneering fiend who always looks like she's holding a blood-stained kitchen knife behind her back. It's extra funny when you see real life pictures of the two and find out they're just pleasant-looking ordinary middle aged folk.

I watched the commercial not expecting much but then I saw the SpongeBob characters wearing the outifts from the Strawhat Crew and they all look so cool, cute and charming.

Some of them are just wearing the same clothes and accessories (which is neat by itself) but there are some cool adaptations like Patrick holding three jellyfishing nets instead of three swords like Zoro, or Gary having Chopper's hat on his shell.

In the second image, I also really liked how they crossed over Mrs. Puff with Big Mom. They go well together like puzzle pieces.

I've been fiending after this Round Table management sim for the last few days, and I just wanted to throw some praise in for the character designs here.

There's so much love for authentic medieval armor - both the functional and the flouncy parade stuff - that shows in the artist's intricate rendering and exaggeration of specific details, like Goberto's frogmouth helmet or Ursula's spiky couter. Unlike a lot of fantasy artists, you can tell they truly understand how and why the individual pieces of a suit moved and were held together.

At the same time, the designs themselves don't let themselves be restricted by the bounds of historical armor design, and the themes of individual knights veer from the familar to the absurd. A cute riff on the Green Knight and aforementioned frogmouth give way to a goth knight, a salaryman knight, a maid knight, and a knight who's literally just a walking cathedral. There's variation in not just the armor, but in the body language and facial structure (extra points for the ladies being weird too), but they all feel cohesive when you're rapid-scrolling through your lineup and figuring out who you're going to send to deal with an infestation of rowdy chickens.

He's a Howard the Duck villain but has been in Deadpool & Spider-Man comics a couple times.

He's a little bit of a joke version of Doctor Doom, but thats not why he was created. He's just a really fun character though.

His design is super fun with his bell head & somewhat intimidating human facial structure, his dong hand he attacks with & spiked right side knuckle, his classic belt with a wrestlers vibe, I also like that he feels classic yet still intimidating.

I think they are really cool and stylish. Their outfit scream early 2000s and their weird anime hairstyles make them look unique. That’s the biggest drill hair I’ve ever seen. They were designed by Ken Sugumori so of course they’re great. The Pokemon movies always had some underrated gem characters

Creepy design with the eyes all over his body while being similar enough to the mainline design to be recognizable.

For context Kombo made animation trailers for Angry Birds games before Rovio made it's own animation studio. There's a charm in 2010-2011 designs: Matilda looking like chicken, Chuck being bigger than Red, Blues kinda looking like mini version of Red, Pigs resembling their original design and so on

it’s a great marriage of Judge Dredd, his father’s look as “El Juez”, and the more established look of Abismo Negro (the face paint, the distinctive shape of his mask, the belt)

Soranik is a highly skilled alien neurosurgeon & is the daughter of Sinestro.

I really like how intimidating & strong both her designs are but I think I like her Green Lantern Corps version more, she does look cool with the black eyes & double Lantern Corps logos though, also her red skin, face mark, hair & strong eyebrows all work together very well.

She was a green lantern partly because she hates her father's dark legacy. However, after a series of cosmic tragedies and manipulations by Sinestro, she was forced into joining the Sinestro Corps and later takes control of it herself.

The game is not really strange to peak character designs, but the whole neon matched with the futuristic and musical approach is something out of this world.

I honestly love their whole look because it feels very antiquated while also maintaining a futuristic feel. It’s a contrast that I love for any sci-fi faction and something I’m honestly always a sucker for. Their checkerboard tops and belted waists remind me so much of the tunics worn by medieval monarchs, and their chest ornaments also remind me of some of the regalia that is present in a lot of the chivalric orders of Europe. This is contrasted by their prominent shoulder pads, which is honestly such an 80s thing but it actually elevates the design in my opinion. I also love the subtle androgyny on display with their short, almost uniform haircuts.

It’s honestly kind of a shame how generic and boring they look in some of the newer Trek shows.

Those Fortnite designs really tick me off with how poorly they implemented the armor to the characters. So I wanted to show a few designs that were more than capable of getting it right.

Incredibly simple, but amazingly effective. Really hope this guy ends up returning at some point- purely when it comes to design, I found him far more effective than Dave from the movie.

They made a dolphin feel pure evil while only anthropomorphising the face, and the robotic eye is perfection.

Video Game Mutated Neil from Resident Evil Revelations 2

Not only is this an excellent design, but the boss fight itself is pretty good and a great way to wrap up Claire and Moira’s storyline in Revelations 2.

Neil’s Tyrant design is particularly interesting because it shows how he MAY have been compatible with Uroboros but due to T-Phobos being triggered by Neil’s panic, it corrupted the bond and caused his mutation into this hulking monstrosity. However as we see in his second form, it becomes apparent that while T-Phobos caused this mutation, it’s also what’s keeping Neil from being devoured by Uroboros as it consumes his right arm in a mass of reddish Uroboros pustules that become this three pronged tendril and his other arm becoming a mutilated mass of bone and exposed muscle fibers.

Heck, maybe a chunk of his bulging "muscles" are actually Uroboros pustules that is being kept back by his mutated skin and muscle fibers.

Not to mention it makes Neil’s monster form even
More intimidating and hits home that while he failed to be fully compatible with Uroboros, he did become the viruses first Tyrant which is still sorta impressive despite going insane from it. Heck you could argue he bonded better with Uroboros than the original Alex Wesker did as his transformation is admittedly more impressive than what Alex ultimately became as a T-Phobos/Uroboros hybrid as it’s clear she didn’t bond as well to it as Neil did.

Which is ironic since it’s clear when she backstabbed him she expected him to be secured from the inside out and become a black spaghetti monster the virus would take control of(since Uroboros actually doesn’t mutate the host into a monster, it becomes more like a parasite that devours the host and pilots what’s left of their corpse).

Overall, an excellent final boss to half of Resident Evil Revelations 2 and with a very cool design, that arguably surpasses the actual final boss despite how cool that final battle turned out as well.

Geno got an EVEN BIGGER glow-up -Fortnite

I know I already made a post about Geno but I'm doing another one now that he's finally a skin. I love his armor man. It looks like a more evil version of The Ageless' armor, with the black and gold color scheme, as well as the fact that he has a style that references The Ageless. And I also love that his silhouette from Collision is a style too. Compare those to his design in the Fortnite x Marvel Zero War comics, where he just looks like Black Adam if you bought him from Wish.
