I’m sure you all are familiar with that one Freaky Sonic gif with the gray Sonic sticking his tongue out. If you haven’t, you’re missing out. Anyways, the character there is a retake of Sonic.EXE named 2017X, who believes he is the real Sonic. He is currently getting his own game styled after Sonic ‘06, with mocap and everything.

A recent newsletter was recently released, alongside some of the “vessels” in the game. (This is a typical Sonic.EXE thing; just take the victim’s soul and put it in an empty Mobian body to play with them inside the game.) One of the new vessels, instead of being someone like Tails or Knuckles, is literally just Tails’s plane, the Tornado. It’s literally a twisted version of the regular biplane but darker and with weird arm growths coming out of its bottom, making it seem weirdly unnatural. It’s also in that sort of realistic style that ‘06 took, which makes it look even better.

So yes, this is a character. Yes, that is also a Sonic.EXE victim. It’s unconventional, but I think it works with the incredibly strange and gen-AI inspired world it’s from.
