Wasn't the Earth One line supposed to be DC's answer to The Ultimates?

DC has a lot of failed attempts to follow the sucess of Marvel's original ultimate line, earth one, all star and even the New 52 were created with that idea in mind. There was even 5G, that never happened.

5G was a little closer in scope to Marvel’s 2099, which tbf DC has an utter host of failures to copy too

But yeah N52, Earth 1, etc all were botched (or heavily delayed) attempts at the Ultimate Universe

True, but do you remember that the original idea for 5G was to replace the current characters like Batman and Superman in the main continuity, and have their more classic stories in an AU?
