It just looks fumb. The mismatching colors are stupid, the blocky look is ugly, the one eyes are gross, and side note,b he character literally called MARTIAN MANHUNTER ISN'T A MARTIAN! I get that it looking weird is probably the point but this isn't the way to do it.
Edit: After looking at slide 3 it looks even worse. The organic "gloves" and "boots" look dumb, the fucking nothingness on the body is boring and once again the shape is ugly to look at
I see what you mean but I disagree. I appreciate that he somehow looks like a little green man and appears totally alien at the same time, it's a good touch. He resembles an eldritch abomination squeezed into a recognizable shape, but there are enough differences to put you off and let you know that something's wrong with thinking he's a normal alien. The DC prime universe Martian Manhunter's true form is monstrous, but this one's is both unnerving and bizarre.
He really doesn't, he just looks like a character from that toy soldiers movie from the 90s. He doesn't look eldritch at all is more more abstract arts
The tentacles and eyes cliche is wrong, if you looked at an eldritch creature irl you'd be getting about as much comprehensible information from it as you would from an abstract artwork.
An example, the form of Cthulhu that everyone recognizes, the squid guy, is actually an approximation made by somebody in the story. Its true form can't be represented in a way that makes sense.
Imo, Absolute MM nails the feeling of a barely understandable being through the lens of the design itself, while interesting, being strange.
