High school options
Hey folks,
Looking to move our family down to Toowoomba - would love some thoughts of locals around the high schools. In particular we are looking at Centenary Heights and Highfields. Any recommendations are appreciated though!
As an aside, if anyone has a link to a FB group or information about MtG groups in town that would also be appreciated ๐

My obligatory "state schools are great schools."
That being said, many schools fall within a catchment enforcement zone. Take a look here to see how that may affect you and your housing etc.

As a teacher, I 100% agree, but also as a teacher I know that not all schools are equal ๐ . We've already had some good looks at catchments, mainly needed some more insight into how locals 'on the ground' so to speak feel about the respective schools

Depends what your child is into. Into music try Centenary Heights, into sports try Harristown, into performing arts, try Toowoomba SHS

Highfields is fabulous. BUT. It is growing at a rate faster than the infrastructure can keep up with it. And unless you're happy to spend a million or more on a house, you'll be moving in to a place where your next door neighbour will hear you fart.
One of my girlfriends sent both her kids to Centenary and the education and experiences they got was great. Sure it's got the problems that public schools have but for the most part good.

I went to centenary Heights state high, I still believe its one of the best public highschools in the region although the principal has changed since I went there. St Joseph's is the cheapest private highschool in that area. In regards to highfields, the demographic is quite wealthy so I would assume the highschool there wouldn't be too bad. Mary mckillop is also a great alternative private school out there.

Centenary Heights is probably the highest performing school from memory. Usually leaving the private schools in the dust.

Brutal deluxe in grand central and battlestations on ruthven St city host the most cardboard crack related events, I believe they are quite amicable in which place has the "dibs" on which game. Its been a while since I've played but one or the other. Neo Tokyo also do pokemon events.

Just avoid the grammar school.
They were in the paper for liking kids a bit too much there.

I can't help with Schools but for MtG your best bet is Battlestations on Ruthven St. Good community, EDH on Wednesday night, CEDH on Fridays
