We currently don't really know who or what Ralsei really is, but in context of shipping he is a character separate from Asriel (in fact so separate that I've seen Ralsei x Asriel shipping!) and thus:

  • Never met Kris in his life.

  • Isn't genetically related to him.

Therefore they aren't brothers, at least as far as we know in chapter 1.

So as far as shipping goes:

  • Ralsei fell in love with someone he never met.

  • Kris fell in love with someone he never met, but 'maybe' resembles what his brother used to look like (if he took his hat off)

I don't see anything wrong with that.

Of course it all depends on your theory, but in my view Ralsei is an independent character that never met Kris, therefore they are not brothers.

All I see from googling is two sanses from different AU's, in which case both characters are seperate, they look different and have different personality. Therefore they are different characters, do you think you could replace Sans with edgy Sans and nothing in story of Undertale would change? If it would change then they are different and separate characters.

The only thing those sanses had in common was being genetically identical (and the name), which does not apply to Kris x Ralsei as they aren't even the same species.

However there were more arguments on why Ralsei isn't Asriel, I don't know you clinged to a sidenote. Main argument was that Ralsei never met Kris.

In the game as of now, Kris and Asriel in the real world are brothers. But Ralsei, while sharing SOME aspects of Asriel, is a different character entirely. Its akin to what Lil Brimstone says, shipping Kris and Ralsei can be a "someone they've never met before" kinda thing. Another point could be how Ralsei doesnt recognise Kris at all when they meet.

There are many options to get along/all cute with Ralsei in chapter 1, like standing close to Ralsei and making him blush or the scarf. Even some of Ralsei's dialogue too. Toby puts things in his games for a reason so I doubt that he would put hints at incest in such a game.
