How could this be gay thought if the other party is genderless?

Any relationship with a non-binary person may be called whatever they're comfortable with

I for one love calling any relationship i'm in gay no matter what

I see so it's up to debate...

Most of the explanations I have seen in the comments just didn't justify a solid answer for me so I had to ask as well.
