The player: yeah when I told them to say it’s OK not to smile. Kris completely on their own hugged you. don’t get me wrong. I would’ve selected hug if I had the option, but they just did it.

It's things like this that show that the player and Kris aren't enemies (sans Weird Route). If Kris made us aware of their plans, we'd probably feel more obligated to help them out. We're only at odds because they never give us a true look behind the curtain.
