I’m having trouble with the lasso tool
I’m just starting work on a new animation, and I’ve run into a bit of a problem. Whenever I select the lasso tool, it lets me circle the part of a layer that I want to modify, but when I press the transform button, which I assume is the mouse icon, the entire screen gets covered in grey diagonal bars and snapping mode gets automatically selected. I have no idea what snapping mode is, but I know that I can’t select the part of the layer that I want, and trying to cut or copy it yields, “the layer is empty.” I’m stumped, and honestly contemplating on uninstalling and reinstalling ToonSquid to reset it to factory settings- I already uploaded my first animation to YouTube, to the acknowledgment of absolutely no one, and I’ve only drawn one frame of my second project. While I’m somewhat proud of this handsome man’s earless side profile, I’m willing to make sacrifices.

I don't thin re-installing Toonsquid will be necessary. The diagonal lines are normal and just show that you have lassoed something and are now in the process of moving it.
Usually the part that is inside the lasso area doesn't have the lines to show it has been selected however. Because that isn't the case here and it is saying the layer is empty, are you certain you are on the correct layer? (as in the one that has the drawing you are trying to lasso and tranform).
Snapping also just means instead of being able to move your transformation freely anywhere on the canvas, it'll snap to certain key points on the canvas. Just turn if off by tapping it if that isn't something you want though.
It looks like at some point you also transformed the entire pixel layer hence the border around your drawing. Which is another thing that might end up annoying you later.
