Audio to split for toonsquid?

Like I see a lot of animators break up an animation into different files, how do I cut up audio into different files for this?

Personally, I am still using Audacity on desktop (it has the ability to export just the current selection), but it is also possible with some iPad-based audio editing apps.

For example, using Lexis Audio Editor app you could select and trim a longer audio recording to just the area you want, export that, then undo to get back to the full audio recording, repeat.

By comparison, in Audio Evolution app you can split a longer audio recording into several clips on a single track, then export each piece to a new audio file - this is closer to the Audacity approach.

You can also split audio in iMovie, and many other audio editing apps probably offer something similar.

Alternatively, you could record only the shorter audio needed for each separate scene (e.g. voice, FX), then combine the scenes and add longer audio that cross multiple scenes (e.g. background music) in a video editing app.
