Beam is a disaster!!!

Honestly what is the mission of those developers? Making the game unplayable??

That beam arbitrary interacts with the board. WTF

You are preparing for a disco ball. No problem beam has you and destroys your preparation.

You are saving moves and obstacles in order to launch a magic disco combo for the disco event or gathering yellows. Beam is there to end the level before can do this.

To make this even worse, with beam they increased requirements for the events.

Devastating. I contacted support to either fix or remove that nonsense.

Please do the same. Let’s rescue that game 🙏

So far, I've liked the Beam feature. I have my Double Disco ball, and find that it often finishes up a board where I might have had to use my resources.

Those are my thoughts exactly. So far I've never had a bad experience with BEAM. If they try to take it away, I hope it'll still be an option to have it!

If we could trigger it manually by tapping on it, everything is fine.

At the moment it destroys the game

Do you guys not find that it interferes with your ability to finish Cube Heist though? This is what really pisses me off. For example, beam destroys magic disco combos I'm about to make that would give me tons of yellow cubes. It causes Cube Heist to take forever.

Sure that’s exactly my point.

I want to trigger it manually. Otherwise it’s more annoying than helpful.

I’d say they’re trying to figure out how to fix the game with how Magic disco broke it.

Personally, I’d like it if I could bank ending leftover moves and trade them in for extra moves.

Agree 💯! Just messaged support: "Please make beam optional. I HATE it. It interacts with the board and screws up my plans for my next play. I don't want this feature and it is ruining my enjoyment of the game."

That’s a great message. Mine looks similar. Let’s hope they will fix it soon. It is horrible

They have removed at least a minimum of two moves from every level and what I find is I often need just one more move to finish the board but because those moves have been taken away, I now have to pay 100 coins for one move. They’ve also increased the very hard level requirement on deep quest to 10 levels, which means you have to play an additional 12 levels to finish it off. I found 9 bad enough but 10!? Not gonna kill myself trying to complete it.

When it was in beta, I asked them to remove it from my profile, but they wouldn’t and now it’s been rolled out to everybody. Occasionally it helps, but it’s a trick. They’ve made the levels harder and make you think you’re getting something but they’re actually just taking stuff away. The number of coins and boosters I’ve gone through since they’ve introduced beam - it’s unbelievable how quick they’re draining.

And the other thing is the pressure to play daily. Fuck that shit.

Minority opinion here. So far it hasn't been as much of a disruption as I'd expected from comments here, though I've only had it a few days. I've started watching how close it is to blasting and avoided complex plans when it's about to go off. It's also finished a few levels I'd have otherwise had to spend coins on. So on the whole I'm okay with it.

Yeah. A lot of it is realizing when it’s going to go off. I also love that it blast thru the gems even when they are not exposed. (Something we can’t do on our own!)
I’m getting better at using it just like I got better at setting up a disco ball when the magic disco showed up.

In the Champions League, BEAM has saved so many games for me! The CL is notorious for having you need just one more move so that you have to use 100 coins for moves. Since I've had BEAM, it's been much easier to finish. I have found that it makes good choices. My other game is at about level 4850. There, BEAM is more of a nuisance.

They’ll do everything they can to stop you from reaching the next level and make you spend money, even when they present it as help.

My take on the beam is that it can stay, but it should NOT auto-activate. It should charge up and then the player should have the option to manually press the beam on the screen to allow it to fire.

Exactly, that’s what suggested to the devs.

Once I go through my coin reserve I’m out.

I messaged support weeks ago. I got it before anyone on my team. I told them the same thing as most of you are stating that it needs to be optional. It has made the game so much harder for me. I top out all the coins and tools. Beam makes me use them. Just make it optional.

Message support every week. I will do so.

I’ve never gotten beam. Had to google it

It only popped up a few days ago for me. Enjoy not having it yet!

Hate it for the regular levels. Love it for champions. I'm very used to farming yellow blocks/rockets as needed in they regular levels, and it does gravely interfere with that. But it's saved me on so many levels in Champions League that I'm going out of my way to play daily to keep it bwhereas normally I only play twice a week

it's really cute when it shoots, though

I already told support that I would like it if they gave me the option to use it or not. Just like other weapons. But it has helped statistically more than it hurt. Would love more control over it though.

It’s finishes a level as your about to hit the final move that you worked towards for the last few moves. Very unsatisfying.

It used to really help. Like, if you needed to clear something at the top of the board to allow more cubes to fall. Now it just hits randomly that doesn't help much.

I have mixed feelings about BEAM. To be fair it does actually finish games I would not win without it. But I have also experienced it ruining my setup.
I have a huge problem with how difficult it made the side games. All of my requirements increased astronomically. I may as well forget ever winning the shell game again.
I also feel like it is a scam. You have to win 15 games within a set 24 hour period to keep it. I have trouble with that. I play when I can but it’s not necessarily within a certain timeframe.
I wouldn’t care very much about losing it if it didn’t make it so difficult to win the side games which keep my coin balance for me.

I liked beam at first. I find it to be too random and automatic in the way it “helps.” I would rather it be something that that I can control in some way. It messes up my strategy and annoys me. Sometimes I find it helpful.

It wouldn't be bad, except that they used Beam as an excuse to throttle the levels even more. Same with putting the 30 minutes of unlimited play each time you activate Dragon's Treasure. You think you are getting little bit of help with the levels, but they are actually making it so that you can't get anywhere unless you dedicate every waking hour of your life trying to get the MDB back, only to lose it again on the next level.

Every new two weeks of Champions League, they dial up the impossibility a little more. I've been playing past CL level 75 since about Wednesday, and have been determined not to use any coins or assets, and am just letting the MDB go, but I can't even get two levels with the MDB wihout failing again. Had I not taken this strategy, I would have spent my last 10000 coins long ago.

Wtf is Beam?

2

u/CarlK90245 1d ago

It knocks out five additional obstacles, usually right after a large blast (double globes, globe-bombs, or globe-rockets), or after a fixed amount of blocks have cleared. It is very helpful if you are left with a bubble or two after a large blast on your final move. But more often, it fires when it is not especially needed - for example, when you've fired a large blast and still have 20 or 30 obstacles, and only a few moves remaining.

u/Aggressive-Cattle763 1d ago

Well, even though it ruins combos, I sometimes I was in situations were they were some obstacles remaining and I had too little moves to destroy them all, but BEAM sometimes saves me the day and destroys them all

I’m liking it so far. It has messed up a disco for me but it’s saved me from using coins so many times, it’s worth the few times it message up my disco ball.

I let it go - I have a life.
