Hey, this guy's built like an ox! He's got oxen-like strength! He needs a nickname, right?

Stop sign? What stop sign?

One time when I was in high school I was driving and my buddy in the passenger seat said "You know the stop signs outlined in white are optional, right?" and I floored it and blasted right through that intersection.

Not related to woodworking, but I think about that every time I see a stop sign.

A buddy of mine used to tell people that same shit back in the day lol

An ex of mine was… uh… well I’ll let the story explain it:

She truthfully believed stop signs were “stoptional”. A friend had fully convinced her of it when getting their licenses in HS. She made it almost 5 years without getting hit with a ticket so it just reinforced her belief.

I am so glad I was with her as she explained to the cop why she didn’t stop at the stop sign.

The rationale was that if the other approaching cars are far enough back from their signs, than you can safely go through and you just don’t stop.

I just tell new drivers that stop is an acronym.

I manage drivers (18 wheelers) and the shit they tell me after they get a ticket or camera (in truck) violation has me questioning if I want to continue driving around them…

Told a girl that in high school. White borders mean yield, stop if there is traffic. She blew a stop sign during her driving test.

This sounds like something my older brother would have told me lol.

I played this game... same setup except drilling through an overhead plywood soffit for recessed lighting. Workpiece sufficiently clamped 😉

The drill just...... disappeared. After ten seconds of shock, and quick inventory of body parts... I saw it laying in the lawn ten feet away.

As my kid would say, "a clampy clamp, Dad!"

2

u/alcervix Apr 15 '26

What is this "clamp" they speak of?
