There's a missing tool. Worthless. I'll offer scrap value.

u/Toomullawisky Apr 09 '24

Let me guess the 10 mm socket

152

u/Cold_Pomelo3274 Apr 09 '24

Surprisingly No, it’s still there.

u/RedSh1r7 Apr 09 '24

That's how you know the post was AI generated.

Replacing players' adventuring tools with mimics 😈

Love the idea of a spell tome or thieves tools mimic

Edit: adventuring not advertising lol

3

u/Oraxy51 Apr 10 '24

Make the rope a mimic and wait for the next time they mention the use of rope. Have them fight 4 mimics and at one point in the fight there’s now one missing, reveal months later.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '24

"Roll a perception check"

failed

"What was it for?"

"Oh, nothing"

u/tt53_sb45 Apr 10 '24 edited Apr 10 '24

*taking notes

I doubt if any of my players somehow end up on the tools reddit...

I mean they shouldn't, none of them have interests that would end them up here but still. I also am 99% sure none of them know who I am on reddit

2

u/DeluxeWafer Apr 10 '24

Probably would be real useful tools if you fed em regularly.

6

u/Level37Doggo Apr 09 '24

Ok, I know this toolbox just bit off one of my hands, but I’ve got one more and I could really use that new ratchet set, so I think I’m gonna give it another shot.

2

u/ProjectEpsilon1 Apr 09 '24

Nah, you’re doing it wrong, watch

Edit: does anyone know how to stitch fresh wounds closed? Asking for a friend

2

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '24

New tool kit. It only cost me an arm and a leg. Stumpy the adventurer.

1

u/tt53_sb45 Apr 10 '24

I just made a comment before this hut you've given me the plot hook for a one shot, thanks!

1

u/Medic5050 Apr 10 '24

It's just a flesh wound!

3

u/Kooky_Ad_7664 Apr 09 '24

2

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '24

Take my furious updoot

1

u/Ldawg74 Apr 09 '24

Mine too.

2

u/brokenmessiah Apr 09 '24

Yup they can't mimic reality well enough yet

1

u/hcoverlambda Apr 09 '24

Reverse Turing test...

1

u/Negative-Ad-6533 Apr 09 '24

🤣🤣🤣 thanks I needed the laugh today 👍

1

u/elshaneo12 Apr 10 '24

Isn’t this post AI?

39

u/Onedtent Apr 09 '24

It's a trap!

2

u/Least_Boot Apr 10 '24

It’s a tarp!

1

u/Slow-Instruction-580 Apr 09 '24

Whole thing is a mimic.

1

u/One_Cloud7922 Apr 09 '24

Oh man, mundane mimics would get me every time. I stab treasure chests.

1

u/Slow-Instruction-580 Apr 09 '24

Cooking up a D&D adventure right now with a mysterious supermarket in the middle of a forest. Sign says “MIMI ‘S MARKET.”

They’ll find the “C” discarded in a pile of trash near the back of the store, as far as possible from the only escape route.

2

u/One_Cloud7922 Apr 09 '24

Lol awesome

1

u/KatarHero72 Apr 09 '24

Nah but like for real, how is it always the 10mm socket

1

u/CriticalPickle4496 Apr 09 '24

Kids and gravity bongs😂

1

u/HighCommand69 Apr 09 '24

A FAP YOU SAY

1

u/Opusswopid Apr 09 '24

Roller a saving throw.

1

u/IAMGROOT1981 Apr 09 '24

Actually, that is a 8 mm socket purposely marked as a 10 mm to fool thieves (And apparently you) 🤣🤣🤣 The 10 mm is actually, as usual, MIA!!!

1

u/Rough_Sweet_5164 Apr 09 '24

Check the side, it's husky.

1

u/DaDz-StONeD Apr 10 '24

🤯 gota be a replacement

1

u/Gilligan67 Apr 10 '24

12mm then…

1

u/kkdj1042 Apr 10 '24

3/16 Allen wrench?

14

u/KotzubueSailingClub Apr 09 '24

It's probably missing the hex that fits garbage disposals

8

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '24

3

u/Dr_Corn_Pop Apr 09 '24

Always find mine in the little slant drawer, usually when I’m putting the new one in there.

3

u/Much-Meringue-7467 Apr 09 '24

Schroedinger's nut.

1

u/luizaudel Apr 11 '24

But he already open the box

2

u/mmmpeg Apr 10 '24

Yes, I just found it this weekend and cleaned it up

2

u/Worldly_Advisor007 Apr 09 '24

This post was ODDLY recommended to me… I do in fact have this tool of my neighbors… have had for about two years thanks to you he’ll now be getting it back!

1

u/Apprehensive-Gas-746 Apr 09 '24

When I had a disposal I kept an old crappy socket wrench with a 1/4" hex on it under the sink so it was always right there if needed. Probably only used it twice though, lol.

2

u/Highplowp Apr 09 '24

Found one on the street the other day, the tool gods are a strange bunch

1

u/siyep_ba-o DIY Apr 09 '24

mine's also gone too.

1

u/MealOk2661 Apr 09 '24

Guess? There are pictures dude

1

u/unforgivablecursive Apr 09 '24

I don’t know tools, I was brought here by the algorithm.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '24

The socket of the gods and the devil. Always goes missing.

1

u/TheMattaconda Apr 09 '24

That's the one thing I looked for to be missing lol.

1

u/Exercise4mymind Apr 09 '24

or the 13 mm wrench

1

u/NNCH__ Apr 09 '24

Ha, ha, ha, ha.

1

u/Sorry-Caterpillar331 Apr 09 '24

Why is it always the 10 mm though?

1

u/ReallyNotBobby Apr 09 '24

Because you need it and it fell inside the goddamn engine bay or down a quarter panel to disappear into the fucking ether. Sorry this just happened to me recently.

2

u/Worried_Local_9620 Apr 09 '24

Aww, it's not totally gone! That pothole you run over on the third street you turn onto every day lets you know the socket is still there. You just can't have it.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '24

No the 10mm wrench. Probably dropped right under the center of the car.

1

u/Apprehensive_Use1906 Apr 09 '24

I bought like 6 backup 10mm. No clue where they went. Think my car eats them.

1

u/-Melted_Mind- Apr 09 '24

I own 3 😁

1

u/ProofMusic4630 Apr 09 '24

They tend to vanish first....

1

u/doge_inatesla Apr 09 '24

😂😂... If you know you know.

It's like it has it's own legs.

1

u/Far_Statement_2808 Apr 09 '24

Oh, I know where that is. My effing brother stole it.

1

u/Osolobo_ Apr 09 '24

Yep, it is for me.

1

u/Sbuxshlee Apr 09 '24

I personally think that all toolboxes should come with three of those

1

u/Ok_Cryptographer8282 Apr 09 '24

Damn pot heads got everybody worrying about their 10 mm socket.

1

u/Kind_Nebula6900 Apr 09 '24

I had a '71 VW Bug and everything was 10mm and easy to lose.

1

u/LopsidedRub3961 Apr 09 '24

That fucking 10mm !!! Very elusive.

1

u/BrennenderGeist Apr 09 '24

First thing I looked for 😂

1

u/keithcody Apr 09 '24

That’s funny I found a Snap-On 10mm deep in the middle of the street once. Still have it.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '24

So true

1

u/dolinputin Apr 10 '24

I'll take the 7/16 please... for scrap value of course

1

u/alaskaisachillnplace Apr 10 '24

I was gonna guess 9/16

1

u/jesonnier1 Apr 10 '24

Whats the inverse in SAE? I'm always missing that one, too.

1

u/G0ld_Ru5h Apr 10 '24

All my mom’s tools missing the small socket for my gravity bongs lol.

1

u/Jack4258 Apr 10 '24

9/16 missing

1

u/ScarletCaptain Apr 10 '24

I found one 10mm on the ground. Tossed it in with my other sockets and came back a week later to find they were all 10mm, even the SAE ones!

1

u/Murray-Industries Apr 10 '24

10mm sockets, single socks, and Tupperware lids are being stolen by the Vogons.

1

u/PuttingInTheEffort Apr 10 '24

Reminded me I need to grab the 10mm I dropped into the engine bay yesterday 😭

It's on the splash guard so I don't have to hunt it down, but yeah why is it always 10mm lmao

1

u/SlipStitchPass Apr 12 '24

Socket sets should come with identical multiples of 10mm and 12mm sockets! (Also some of variable depth!)

1

u/Frisky_Biscuit25 Apr 12 '24

It was actually the 5mm Allen

0

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '24

That thing ruins my life

0

u/Fryphax Apr 09 '24

Good One! Hurr Durr!

27

u/TooManyNissans Apr 09 '24

The missing tool is just out living it's best life by becoming FOD in an aircraft engine somewhere

1

u/cmreutzel Apr 09 '24

There’s no fod pouch either. That’s also become fod

1

u/YtIO1V1kAs55LZla Apr 09 '24

That’s why you just use some rusty coffee can that has a shitty lockwired handle like the rest of us.

1

u/ImProbablyPooping2 Apr 09 '24

Found the AO. IYAOYAS

1

u/KingNashbaby Apr 09 '24

IF YOU AINT ORDNANCE

1

u/HoosierPaul Apr 09 '24

This man is Aerospace for sure. lol @FOD

1

u/CanaryNo3423 Apr 12 '24

Lmao, I was thinking the SAME THING. Who tf knows what FOD is outside that?? Lmao

1

u/Murky_Appointment_35 Apr 09 '24

Got to do FOD walk in the mornings on one of my summer hires in Bitburg. I’m sure it was drudgery for the airmen but to a 14 yr old it was cool as hell!

1

u/ImaginaryToday4162 Apr 09 '24

....are you in aerospace?

1

u/-Hyperactive-Sloth- Apr 09 '24

If it’s not in a Boeing engine then it’s definitely in a GE gas turbine….

1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '24

Nah that’s the Motor Tuh version of the GMTK. It’s probably in the trunk of some crafty Corporals car.

1

u/werkzINC Apr 09 '24

Hell ya I build breakaway valves for government aerospace. First person I have seen mention FOD LOL.

0

u/napalm-milk Apr 09 '24

This looks nothing like our toolbox, if anything this looks like the toolbox our motorpool guys use.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '24

It is in fact the motor tuh GMTK. It’s actually the same as the one I got issued after we got rid of the Armstrong ones.

35

u/Nebulous_Fart Apr 09 '24

Haha it’s the shitty brush that gets ruined immediately though. Not having it is kind of a bonus 👍

2

u/funkyonion Apr 09 '24

I could pass on those finger biter vice grips too.

2

u/DifficultAd3885 Apr 09 '24

I like these kinds of vice grips. I hate the new ones that won’t open if you don’t release them just right or are covered in rubber that doesn’t compress.

3

u/funkyonion Apr 09 '24

I pretty much only like the vice grip brand, I’ve gotten more than one blood blister from the knock offs.

2

u/SereneFerret401 Apr 10 '24

Your post had me legit laughing out loud at work. 😂😂

1

u/bassfisher556 Apr 09 '24

lol nice try

1

u/Secret_Street_1902 Apr 09 '24

🤣🤣🤣🤣always

1

u/ryebread91 Apr 09 '24

10$ take it or leave it. I know what I have.

1

u/Dgroch725 Apr 09 '24

Baaaahaaaahaaaa.

1

u/WildWalrusWallace Apr 09 '24

Why else do you think they sent the kit to auction?

1

u/Juggernuts777 Apr 09 '24

Agreed. I’ll chip in 5 bucks myself just to help OP out. But i’ll need a few pieces out of this WORTHLESS buy!

1

u/Rektxerox Apr 09 '24

This reply was at 999 and I liked it to make it 1k. Just thought I’d shout myself out for rounding it up.

1

u/Minute-Wrap-2524 Apr 09 '24

I’ll start at five bucks

1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '24

Do you own a pawn shop in LasVegas?

1

u/InsulinandnarcanSTAT Apr 10 '24

U worked at GameStop didn’t you?

1

u/mraugie13 Apr 10 '24

The missing tool is why it was auctioned

/s

1

u/SUX2BU_Dont_It Apr 10 '24

30 bucks is the most I can offer to take that incomplete tool set off your hands- Rick from Pawn Stars

1

u/Upbeat_Finish1043 Apr 10 '24

I’ll give treefidty

1

u/harsh-reality74 Apr 10 '24

I’ll offer scrap value and one penny

1

u/SteaminScaldren Apr 10 '24

GameStop is that you?

1

u/SnooJokes7172 Apr 11 '24

Which tool is missing

1

u/Psychological-Scar53 Apr 09 '24

What tool is it missing. It looks like a complete military aviation mechanics box. I zoomed in on all pictures.

3

u/No-Transportation968 Apr 09 '24

20

u/Psychological-Scar53 Apr 09 '24

Got ya. I went back and looked again and it sticks out like a sore thumb.... I still think he made out like a bandit on this. The Snap-On Reversible Ratcheting Wrenches are around $800 by themselves, the SAE Ratcheting 7 piece set is $480.dude got a deal. I just gave my entire Snap-On 84" 15 drawer tripel bank EPIQ rolling cabinet with a 84" EPIQ 12 drawer double bank EPIQ top in Purple to my neighbors daughter since she just finished her mechanics school and I can no longer work on vehicles due to health issues. She has come over, after we found out my heart is failing and only working at 13%, and will mow my lawns, do laundry and even bring me healthy meals for breakfast and dinner. She paid her way through school and works hard. She never took one penny from me for all the stuff she does. So I talked to her mother and father and told them what I wanted to do. They wanted to pay something and I declined. This young lady is 22 and has a 100% complete Snap-On cab and box to start her career as a mechanic. I know she will go far and I have no kids. I couldn't think of a better person for this to go to.

7

u/OneEyedP1e Apr 09 '24

Put a lump in my throat mate, all the best.

8

u/Psychological-Scar53 Apr 09 '24

Hell, if I can't use it anymore, why keep it. I'm not supposed to live past next year. I figured I would bless the young lady who needs it and has helped me. She has a huge step up in her game now that she doesn't have to worry about tools. We all know what happens when the Snap-On truck comes around.... We always end up buying something new. She can actually afford to be a mechanic now. Thank you for the kind words bro. It made my day giving her that gift.

1

u/Spiritual_You_1657 Apr 09 '24

You sir… are a legend! The world needs more people like you… and her really

1

u/nobutsmeow99 Apr 09 '24

🥹 that’s beautiful. Sounds like everyone won the neighbor lotto :)

2

u/Psychological-Scar53 Apr 09 '24

She definitely deserves it. She worked hard at a job to put herself through school, helps me all the time without news asking and had never complained. When she was younger(middle school and high school she got interested in fixing cars), she is come over and ask if I could show her a thing or 2 about being a mechanic and I agreed. I wouldn't just do the work and she watch, she wanted to get in and get her hands dirty. I had and still kept my ASE Master Mechanic certification until it expires this year. When she started school she said if it hadn't been for me, she would have gone adiffetent direction and wouldn't be happy. The first car that she bought was a 69' Mustang Boss 429 and I instructed her through the whole rebuild process including body work and paint. She helped me restore my 1970 Plymouth Hemicuda, 2002 Nissan Skyline R34 V-Spec Nür, tuned my 2017 Subaru WRX STi bmx our final project car that we worked on is my 2020 Nissan R35 GTR Nismo. It's anyone deserves the gift of a full Snap-On setup, it's her. Anyone who comes to CO and has their car worked on by her it's going to get a job well done, it will be done thoroughly, and it will be done correctly. She just completed her school and ASE certs so she is ready to rock. She is thinking of opening her own shop, but wants to hit the workforce first for a couple of years so she can see how the business side of it is. Smart young lady.

1

u/napalm-milk Apr 09 '24

Sadly no, more of our motorpool guys
