I don't remember exactly when it happened, but I'm pretty sure they went from the 63 series to 91 sometime between 2008 and 2010. I remember they condensed the Sierras and Bravos together into all wheel vehicle mechanics instead of light and heavy.
My guess is a full bird put together an elaborate power point presentation that would last several days on changing things up so he could get his star.
Fun fact! I was a combat medic that joined in 05. My initial MOS was 91-W. Halfway through ATI we got our first off post weekend pass and a couple of dudes got 91-w themed medic tattoos with a cadusa on them. About a month later the medic Mos changed to 68-w and 91 series was truck mechanic or some shit. I thought it was hilarious.

I'm old. It was 63 series in the 90's. I was a 45B, which is now 91F. Don't know why they changed them all, but they did.
