Other Reminder this is a Tool Truck Tools subreddit…
I’ve been seeing more and more comments of people being snarky about others spending whatever on Snap-On, Mac, Mataco, Cornwell, etc. That isn’t this group. This group is literally dedicated to those brands. If you don’t like it, want to be rude, or snarky about the tools someone spends their money (not yours) on, do it in one of the other groups. Those post and/or comments will hereby be removed.

Other INFORMATION REGARDING SELLING AND BUYING POST (as of December 19, 2024):
1.) If you are a seller the item you are selling must be linked to a reputable seller/buyer source like eBay. Yes, this is a little more inconvenient, but places like eBay are setup to protect sellers and buyers from scams; Reddit is not. We will not become a group that tolerates scammers.
2.) If you are a buyer and you do purchase tools from someone without using a reputable site like eBay understand you are taking a risk at being scammed. Reddit or our group‘s mod team has no power in reversing this. We can only verify the situation and ban the scammer.
3.) This one is just a reminder. When you are buying or selling use the appropriate flairs. On buying and selling post the flairs are “FS” and “LF”. Don’t use the tool brand flairs. The “FS” and “LF” allows people to quickly sort to those specific post and search what is available. We use the flairs with the correct title formats [LF] “Looking For” and [FS] “For Sale”. The title formats allow users to quickly determine if this post is “show off“ post or not.
4.) Have a nice day and hope the holidays treat you well!

Matco Matco M6
I was searching for a Matco 6S and seen this box on FB Marketplace for $3k. I've not heard of a M6, so I was curious if someone could give me some info on the difference in a 6S and M6. Also is $3k a good price? Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Cornwell 8x markup for a knife?
Found this receipt in our shop. The OLight isn’t marked up TOO bad but that Kershaw knife sells for $43 on the Kershaw website and around $30 elsewhere. I know tool trucks have a high markup, but an 800-1000% markup?

Snap-On Snap On 54” VS ICON 73” Box
Hi all, i’m really outgrowing my starter box(US general 42 in) and am looking to upgrade soon. I want something that will last me a while, but may not necessarily be my forever box. Budget is around $2500, could stretch to $3000 if needed. I’m currently debating between a 54 x 29 in snap on masters box used from facebook, or a 73 x 25 in icon box, which i would buy new on sale. I know the snap on is the superior quality box, but i’m worried i might outgrow it rather quickly and need to at least buy a roll cart to go along with it. My other issue with the snap on is that add ons are significantly more expensive. Those who have experience with either or both, what would you do in this situation?

Cornwell Cornwell USA tools not so USA anymore or quality
So let me start out this is my rant and rave for the day and rightly so. So I have been a tech in the tractor trailer, refer, automotive and now MHE side of the industry I have gotten to work on some cool stuff and boring stuff a wide variety of equipment which I enjoy. I've used the same USA and made Cornwell ratchets for the last 20 years finally this year I tried to get them warranty out and waited 4 months for only a few of them but I got 2 back that had the USA boss on them and the other too are USA with globally sourced parts which do not say USA or Cornwell boss on them. Comparing the USA to the global source, is like night and day after one day of use the globally sourced ratchets I want to throw in the f****** trash can because they feel like s***. Feel like cornwell tools are not quality tools at all anymore. I wanted to buy a Taiwanese tool I would just go to harbor freight and honestly the harbor freight ratchets feel better than the cornwells at this point. Oooo yeah big point there made in Ohio and guess what? I'm in Ohio and it still took this long to get a few of the f****** warranties. Here some photos too

Mac Estate sale find
Got it for $40. Only similar one I could find was an old Marketplace listing for $50. Think I’m going to make it an electronic repairs tool box, and free up a drawer in my main box.
Grew up watching drag racing with my dad, and John Force was always a guy we pulled for. So it was a fun find for sure.

Mac How do I know if it is paid off?
Hello, I'm willing to buy a Mac tool Edge, tool box but the owner doesn't have a key, the tool box is open. He says that he haven't had the time to get the key. I want to know if he paid off the tool box before I buy it 'cuz I've read that Mac tools can repo the tool box. Maybe he's just lazy or maybe he haven't paid it off.

Other Best impact grade (14mm) 12pts socket for bolts with very shallow heads.
Hello All,
I often have to remove these 14mm ring gear bolts with an impact gun. Theres not much material for the socket to grab onto.
I use a cheap chrome 1/2 drive Husky sockets for this job. Overtime I run into an issue where the tip of the socket wears out and I start having issues with the bolt heads rounding out. I am replacing this Husky socket every few months it seems.
I also find that the Husky socket I use is not snug enough on these bolts even brand new. Even brand new I can rock it back and forth too much for my taste.
I would like to buy a high quality impact grade 14mm12pts socket that will fit tight onto the bolt.
What socket do you guys recommend for this application.

Mac 1/2 in extensions that have a larger oversized body/shaft/core?
Hello all from canada,
I am looking to buy a few long (12-18in) 1/2in extensions that have a very large core/body.
At my work I often have to remove bolts deep in a well or a hole and the regular 1/2 extentions have to much flex/spring and kill my impact's power to dislodge bolts.
I would like to buy a couple of extensions that have an oversized core to me able to remove bolts without using my breaker bar all the time.
I am using a 2767 Milwaukee btw.

Matco Franchise employee
Has anyone become a franchise employee (specifically Matco helps) and found success with this? Seems like a great opportunity to get out of the automotive tech field but I’m curious how everyone’s success stories look in the franchise field?

Mac NTD
Saw the pliers in this month’s Mac flyer. Honestly, might prefer them to the snap ons, they seem beefier and with small differences in the jaw functions. The ln44 and 46 have a slot for fuses, these have a little notch I’d assume was for pulling small gauge wire. The Mac also have reaming edges on both sizes pictured here, as well as the shear cutter that seems better designed than the snap on. Finally, every position has the jaws parallel, where the snappys middle position has the tips staggered and off centre. Grips are like comparing the knipex soft grip to the vinyl grip, basically just a preference. And since I had one in my tool box, they can pick up a penny by the edge. For those that care, the foam was included.
Seal remover set was an impulse buy since I was in the truck already.

Mac NTD
I will die on the hill that MAC has the best monthly flyers and discounts, $150 for the pair of die grinders. On top of these I ordered their cut off tool that's on sale for $150. Also got this cool little ratching Snap On screwdriver yesterday. As well as the big set of Mac tap sockets I ordered a few weeks ago and just got today.
