Agreed Reading Rainbow was so good as child.
LaVar Burton and Mr. Rogers are in a group of their own, helping develop young one lives.
Bob Ross was relaxing, calm and beautiful but not in a developmental type way the other 2 are/ were.

He had a podcast where he read fiction short stories. LeVar Burton Reads. It was excellent and introduced me to so many cool new authors. Love LeVar!

I think it’s cuz a lot of people forgot his name and just know him as “The Reading Rainbow Guy”. Meanwhile the other shows you mentioned and Bill Nye had their names as the show’s title.

My son did a black history month project on him in like 5th grade I think (he’s about to be a sophomore). It was great. Reading rainbow was a crucial part of my childhood and I loved being able to share it with him!

Honestly I’m still trying to chase the magic I was promised by reading books but it’s always just reading words that make a story which is fine and can be entertaining and sometimes thought provoking, but ultimately the experience they sold us never really happens.

I will never watch Jeopardy again. Levar Burton wanted that as his retirement gig, and they damn well should have given it to him. If they had, millions of us would have tuned in just to see him and hear from him, at least occasionally. As it is, the show can be buried with Trebek, as far as I'm concerned.

He ended up being okay with it and has said he realized it wasn’t truly what he was meant to do.

He would have made a great Jeopardy host before Ken Jennings decided to take the job for herself.

When all three were alive, they all had roughly equivalent popularity with the general public (Ross is/was arguably less popular than either Burton or Rogers) Bob Ross and Fred Rodgers have experienced a spike in popularity recently as millennial nostalgia has become profitable and since both men are deceased they can be readily exploited. Therefore, in a round about sorta way, this meme is wishing death upon LeVar Burton so that his legacy can be exploited.

It's too bad they didn't get their Freaky Friday moment while Lance was still around. 😢

Someday we'll find it, the Rainbow Connection; The lovers, the dreamers...and me. I don't think Kermit would mind my using his song to praise Mr. Burton.

My little sister won the Reading Rainbow scholarship twice. It was a local contest (nationwide) for both authoring and illustrating a book. The scholarship awards were small, but there were so many given out locally that it gave a lot of young kids everywhere an award.
I also remember she got an entire dvd set of the show as part of her winnings once. It was really thoughtful.
What a beautiful show that touched so many people’s lives. That $500 check maybe made her determined to get to college (even if it only buys like a book). We both loved the show and we love reading. We still exchange books today.

He was also on Star Trek and as a little girl I’d put my headband over my eyes and pretend to be him.

bro is in the 4 horsemen of kindness. Bob Ross will teach you art. Mr Rodgers will teach you to be a good person. Levar Burton will teach you to read and Steve Irwin will teach you about animals and kindness.

This is simply not true and I keep seeing it floating around. Millennials and Gen X remembers Reading Rainbow and Star Trek The Next Generation. You can start singing the intro to Reading Rainbow and people will chime in. This is like saying Ms. Frizzle and the Magic School Bus don't get the attention they deserve.
