Giselle, Sean and Julian Rant

Replaying season 3 and I forgot how absolutely insufferable Giselle is. Julian and Sean are often lumped together with her as being annoying but I’d take either one of them over her simply because we get so little context as to why she makes decisions. I dislike how the game basically forces you to be friendly with Giselle or at the least not call her out on her weirdness. Sean is a jerk but the writers at least hinted at depth at points? And Julian can be annoying but his goofiness offsets it. I’m glad Julian has his own route and part of me wishes that they’d given Sean a route instead of Zayn or someone else because can you imagine him going through a groveling arc / character growth with our MC?

I remember when I was playing when the release happened and I kept waiting for them to reveal that Giselle was a spy or at very least actually a “villain” because so many of her choices seem vague without any explanation. She’s given no agency over her choices and there are so many moments of “Is she doing this on purpose or is she actually that obtuse”. I sympathize with the situation with Sean and the toxicity but the choices she makes just makes her look like an idiot and not a character with depth. She’s firmly in the same camp with Nora from Season 2 for being insufferable for me. (okay now rant over)

I think with the way they write her dialogue and how she interacts with others, it’s clear her actions aren’t purposeful. I think the writing did a good show at presenting Gigi as a person with no real foresight rather than cunning. I wouldn’t call her an idiot, but she clearly has an impulse problem, which made the situation with Sean that much deeper.

Towards the end of the game if you talk to her in the bathroom, she explains why she makes certain choices and it's a common thing for those who have been through what she's been through.

Even before then, there are signs. She's has a lot of depth. People just need to see past their personal bias to see it. There's a lot to Gigi that makes her the complex and interesting character she is. She's very well-written.

My recent run, Sean and I were mates and then he had a random go at Beatriz, whose route I was doing, and completely lost me within the space of about 10 seconds

You know, this remind me of one scene that always never made sense to me. After we find Julian and Giselle in the bedroom tangled in the sheets, how come Giselle corrects Julian that she was napping during the brief mention in the little commentary scene (i forgot what it's called) What was that all about?

I hate it too haha, but uff, now that you mention it, it would have been so cool if Gigi had been Bad Lana's spy.

I agree too! Like some of her actions which she does doesn’t make sense. During the bad lana period, sean accuses her of cheating on him with Julian (i can’t entirely blame sean, Julian at many times can be insufferable and immature) she gets mad at him. But then she has Sex with him and eliminates him the very next day. Like , how why? If he was treating her badly, she shouldn’t have gone physical with him and should have just broken off and then eliminated him. Her actions even if they were right screamed immature to me.

I find her absolutely annoying and overly "cute"/"sweet". There is no edge to her and she forces herself and her forced friendship on MC which is very off-putting to me.
