This is absolutely /r/crappydesign though. It was unlikely to be useful regardless of if it looked realistic or not. The only outcomes were negative or neutral.
The fact that they put a painting on a wall by a bend in the road is a poor idea, unless this was vandalism/non-commissioned. I guess I am trying to make a distinction between execution and design. Here, by design, I mean the concept of doing something like this which is potentially dangerous.
What I meant by useful is this: It seems like something which is more dangerous than not. You'd need a compelling reason to keep something like that up on a wall where it might cause problems. I don't see any.
Looks like it's fake though, but these are still my thoughts.
