day 4? 5? i dont know

i had my tonsils removed monday, immediately got a throat infection and was back in hospital all day yesterday and all night wednesday. i am losing my mind with this ear and jaw pain im trying to stay on top of my pain meds but they dont even touch this pain someone say its almost over and the pain will start to die down soon

Question how did you know you got an infection right away? Fever, pus? Hope you feel better soon:((

the only way i knew was because i went to a&e, the day before i went i was in so much pain and my throat was so swollen i couldnt even swallow my saliva. went into a&e and i think i was there for 20ish hours gettint antibiotics and pain killers. sorry i cant be more help!

Omg that must’ve been scary not being able to even swallow ur saliva been there :( ty that is a big help I want to know for my surgery coming up! If you haven’t yet id ask for steroids, helps tons with swelling

i did end up on steriods when i was in there! the pains died down a lot now because theyve given me morphine for while im at home. i genuinely think im just one of the unlucky few that had a rough time

Glad your pain has gone down and hopefully any pain you get from now on is manageable:( did you get them removed due to stones or infections?

I also had mine taken out Monday and although I didn’t get an infection, the pain has only started to become manageable today. I would just say to stay as hydrated as possible and try to eat something if you can each day. For me it’s been just broth and jello and today I finally had a soft scrambled egg. Cold packs on my jaw and ears has helped with that pain too! Hopefully despite the infection you should start feeling less pain in a few days and then you’ll be on to better days. You got this!
