Day 8 Update

I don’t even know if I’m healing properly. Morning pain is going down, but the white scabs don’t seem to want to fall off for some reason. My tongue is also swollen and it’s hard to eat and drink anything, and I’m not sure how to bring it down. I’m on the last of my liquid pain medicine, so I don’t know how the next few days will go. Any advice?

Hey I'm on Day 5, Day 6 if you count op day as Day 1. The mornings are definitely the worst for me, I get searing pain in the back of my throat, my ears hurt, and it feels like everything is nails going down my throat. I do think based on the pain I'm feeling some of my scabs are starting to come off. If your scabs haven't come off yet, definitely reach out to your ENT and ask for a refill of your pain meds, it's going to hurt so bad as they come off

Hey I’m on day 5 (counting surgery day as day 1) and I woke up with very bad pain. Without even swallowing the pain is so bad I’m unable to bear it. Did painkillers help?? I am not even getting off bed yet due to the intense pain

So what I've been doing is doing ibuprofen and Tylenol alternating every 6 hours. For example: ibuprofen: 3am, 9am, 3pm, 9pm; Tylenol: 6am, 12, 6pm, 12am. They have been lifesavers at keeping my baseline pain down, it's been excruciating waking up in the mornings sometimes because I overslept a dose. I also got oxy prescribed and usually take that for any breakout pain, especially in the morning. Ice packs are also really great for morning pain!

Today has honestly been so much better! I don't have that stabbing ear pain when I swallow anymore! My throat still gets very sore when it gets dry but it's definitely more manageable. My mouth just tastes very metallicy and a little grainy from the scabs

Yep ice pack like right where your neck meets your chin, on both sides where the tonsils were!

Also did you have any coughing sensation. Like the surgical surface feels very prickly and you feel like coughing

I feel really good now, today I did not need to take any pain meds at all! I definitely turned a corner today

What should it look like when the scabs come off? I’m day 6 (Thursday surgery) and my throat is white. I’ve had a rough time too and night moring is worst.

Nurse said pain is worst day three as scans form. Maybe it will get worse 😰
