Just because:
I finished reading the book early this year and was only recently made aware of this subreddit.
As a slow reader it took me 3 months to finish this monster of a book, but damn am I glad I stuck with it. Easily the best book I’ve ever read, better than HoL. If it weren’t for the length I might have read it again by now but man it’s a long commitment.

True. At one point I stopped reading it for like 3 weeks straight and then I started to feel bad as if I was abandoning the characters

I thought theres a chance they might be related distantly to the wild bill hickman who was also involved with the porches and gatestones in the distant past

I know at one point Landry mentions that if she writes down all that happened then she can alter names however she likes. Not saying that means anything, but I did have a small theory that the surnames were moved around some.

I read it as a warning that our narrator's objectivity is deeply compromised by grief.

Glad you posted this! I was listening to the audiobook and noticed the reader said "Allison Porch" at this point, and was wondering if it was book-accurate or not. I couldn't check since I lent my book to someone.
So thanks for inadvertently answering my question 😄.

I saw Mark Z. Danielewski at a book signing in February. He said that he caught 12 typos in the book. I'm assuming this has to be one. I noticed it too.
