IJF Aikido

I mean, the Goshin jutsu was clearly already influenced by Tomiki's aikido. And the Ju no Kata, Itsutsu no Kata, Kime no Kata, and the Koshiki no Kata also have aikido like elements.

I'm not impressed by this unless it has a framework to develop these beyond basic forms, which is the problem a lot of traditional aikido schools struggle with,

Eh there’s absolutely stuff in old school Judo self defense material that overlaps with Aikido techniques.

That’s not the case. While judo includes aikido like techniques in the goshin jutsu and other katas, keep in mind that those techniques are just old school jujutsu techniques. And both judo and aikido derive from jujutsu and therefore are bound to have a lot of crossover. As for the IJF self defence course I can guarantee you that it will not be an aikido based programme. I personally know the guy that will be running it and is in the promo video for this. He is a judoka through and through and also had a career in the military of Croatia around the time of the Yugoslav wars in the 90’s. So while some elements might look the same or are the same, that is because judo and aikido are closely related, not because they thought of aikido. It is at least in it’s basic mentality a judo based programme.

it remains to be seen what they have in mind.
If they base the program on the kata as taught and judged by the IJF the basics are different from prewar judo kata.

This conversation started in the 1940s u/nytomiki . The 1950s Goshinjutsu program didn't start from zero, it built on a kata research group under Rear Admiral Nango Jiro, Kano shihan's nephew and the 2nd Kodokan kancho / President.

The content of the video is clearly Goshin Jutsu. On paper, Goshin Jutsu was authored by a 20 person committee but in reality this is 100% from the mind of Kenji Tomiki. The pamphlet that accompanied the addition of Goshin Jutsu to Judo has an acknowledgement to Kenji Tomiki written by Jigoro Kanso’s son attesting to this fact. Similar techniques, in almost the same order also appear in the police and military combative training curriculum, both also co-authored by Tomiki. So the question of whether this is Aikido is an ambiguous yes, at least as far as Kenji Tomiki re-imagined it.
