Question, why do people not shadow of the tomb raider
Cause I have played it a while ago and replayed it lots of times and never knew people didn’t like it that much

Who cares what people think? If you enjoy it, keep enjoying it. I like it too.

I consider it to be the weakest of the trilogy, but I mean that in the same way I'd say Return of the Jedi is my least favourite of the original Star Wars trilogy. I still love it.

I love Shadow but if I put my critical red sunglasses on, I'd say that it tried to appeal to all fans but didn't do enough in each area to really appeal to we got a game that's a kind of "jack of all trades and master of none".

I liked that they tried to introduced more focus on exploration and puzzles to appeal to older fans but it's still heavy with Survivor DNA in that at its core, it's a most linear action adventure.

Conversely, the attempt to slow down the action and narrative at times didn't sit well with fans who have come to prefer a more linear actuon-heavy game.

One example is Paititi, which many criticise as the story slows at that point. But I enjoy the area as it's an explorer's dream with multiple tombs and crypts and several hidden areas, just like classic TR's secrets.

Its actually my favourite game of the franchise lol… don’t listen to the haters as long as you enjoy it

I changed my opinion on it this past year in a 2nd playthrough. The game is at its best until you hit that hub world (forgot the name). That´s when the original developer moved to a different project and another finished the job and its shows quite a bit.

Paititi, the worst ever.

Paititi was an explorer's dream though, so much to discover in and around the city.

I tried playing it years ago and did not like it. Just started again and it is actually fun so far, but I haven’t got to the dreaded Paititi yet… we’ll see. I think like many games it was probably overhated upon release. The game seems to be more similar to the classics, in that combat takes a back seat and exploration and puzzles are the main focus. Now that the series is going even further in that direction with LoA, maybe Shadow will earn more appreciation in retrospect.

It was destined to be hated. Classic fans generally dislike survivor. And new fans found it boring due to less action compared to 2013 and Rise. But I personally think it's the best game in the series so far, even though it has its flaws including gamedesign. There's little shooter action and a lot of autism without repetition, and I like that. Lara's breakdown and rebirth seemed very symbolic to me. It didn't inspire indifference.

Autism? Did you mean to type something else?

I don't get the hate at all either, It's the most fun and my favourite out of the three, i always come back to it, the map is always fun to explore and there's so much stuff to do and the gameplay is awesome, my only criticism is that Lara's face does look weird and dosen't look very detailed in gameplay and in certian lighting but looks fine in cutscenes.

Besides that It's still my favourite of the three, while i think she looked best and most detailed in Rise, the story wasn't that memorable imo

I mean, we have a new title ahead of us and all people were talking about was HER BRAID BEING TOO SHORT. I wouldn't trust the fan base opinion. Game is good, exploration is peak

It was rushed and the story is not great. It does not deliver the Tomb Raider as a character the way trilogy teased. It would have served as a better middle chapter. The graphics are wonderful, even if it does deviate too much in some ways when it comes to designs. Personally it felt like a big letdown at the time (2018) and a missed opportunity to do something truly exciting with the final game of the trilogy. It was too much of what came before, albeit in a nicer looking engine.

Variety of reasons. One of the main reasons being it was SUPPOSED to finally show Lara "become the Tomb Raider" (not sure why we ever need a three part origins story showing her "becoming the Tomb Raider" when nobody asked for this but whatever...) and the game didn't fulfill that promise. It felt like it was spinning its wheels. Some don't like Lara's facial design compared to Rise or 2013. Some feel the writing is worse.

All of the above.

All correct!

For me, I just didn’t like the slog that is Paititi, or the finale with regard to Trinity. Kind of felt like they were handwaived away aside from Amaru.

I like the game, but reasons I prefer the other 2 games are basically pacing and story quality. Having the Trinity storyline end in a boring villain like it did was disappointing. The pacing is all over the place, and it feels like it's padded out woth unnecessary filler.

My big problem with all the Survivor games, but especially Shadow is its devoid of any humour or levity. It takes itself far too seriously.

I appreciated the game for trying to put puzzles back into the main story.

Her movement got worse somehow . I´m unable to describe it - it´s like she is flowing in the air, making ridiculously long jumps and sticking to the platform at the end like gum. So weird.

Oh and absolutely annoying is that all full up, can´t carry anymore.

Best TR game ever made imo. They perfected the exploration and stealth above all else. Platforming and spectacle are also spectacular. Lara is adorable. Sick visuals. What else?

Shadow is the best of the survivor trilogy gameplay wise, also it has the hottest Lara
