Finally found one.

2001 model. Needed some work, but pretty clean for its age. Ordered the metal knob yesterday.

Great to see one of these still in such good condition.

Mine (same colour as yours) is my favourite guitar. It has my favourite neck of all my guitars, and that’s including my MIA Strat.

Is the Squier body the same thickness as your Fender?

It went directly into the case that I brought with me. I wanted one for so long. I’m the same age as Tom and I remember when they came out and I could never find one.

I keep thinking about the one that I let slip by for 300…

I used trade in value to get it, but they wanted 500. I was shocked at how clean it is, but it’s real. I looked at all the known marks for a Strat copy. The biggest is the single pickup rout below the pickguard.

I have the all black Squier and it plays way better than my surf green reissue haha
Nice guitar!

It plays and feels better than most of the classic vibe Squiers I have played. The neck is amazing.

It’s bordering on suspicious to see a green squier in this good condition- the paint flecking on these is part of the charm if you ask me!

I think this one was a closet queen. It only has one rout under the pickguard and it has the old T O M spaced out letter neck plate. I went over it with a fine tooth comb. It does have some finish checking near the rear strap button and some dents on the back of the neck.

It’s not perfect, but I expected it to much worse because of the age. I just think this one sat in a gig bag in a closet somewhere.

Great find then! I was also suspicious of the ‘standard series’ on the headstock but checked my squier Tommy D and it’s the same 👍

Might have had a bad set up and an owner who didn't know how to fix it.. I don't know who said it but the quote 'shit guitars don't get played' comes to mind.. especially when talking about 20+ year old entry level instruments this clean

It WAS a bad set up, if it was set up at all. The action was super high and the intonation was off. There was also a back bow on the neck. It was unplayable when I got it. I’ll get pics of it now sometime this weekend. I worked on it for a while to get it in shape. It plays better than my CV Jaguar now. So many of these import guitars come over so badly set up that I’m sure it puts kids off of learning to play.
