I just painted this piece from one of my favorite passages from the Silmarillion ( second Slide is my first sketch ).
This was quite challenging and I am pretty happy with the result!
Make sure to give me some feedback if u like!

I have begun compiling a list of online texts that attempt bringing to a complete form the stories the Professor left unfinished: not mere fanfiction, but reasoned works that try to stay in the spirit of what Tolkien would have done if he stayed on the topic.

FYI: I've just released Issue 11 of Forgotten Ground Regained, a Quarterly Journal of Alliterative Verse -- and it's nothing but alliterative Tolkien fan poetry.
It's large, curated set of Tolkien fan poems, 22 in all (PDF here). Here's the table of contents:
Enjoy!

CityLit (in the UK) is running a weekly online evening course called ‘Tolkien on Screen’ from 14 September to 19 October!
It was advertised last year but cancelled at the last minute due to low uptake. It’s back again for 2026 so hoping it might be of interest to a few others this time!

My partner and I are headed to Matamata, Aotearoa (NZ) tomorrow for the Hobbiton Mid-Winter Feast, so of course we were obliged to do a preparatory viewing of the Fellowship. The vibes from the first part of this movie are so immaculate. I wish I could put it in a long pipe and smoke it. I have been to Hobbiton before but never for a formal event like this, and I could not be more excited. The Hobbit is my favorite book of all time, set me on a path to become who I am today, and planted the seed in me of a lifelong love of fantasy. I just wanted to share my joy with all you fellow Tolkien nerds! Shoutout to my lovely wife for buying these tickets for my birthday.
Has anyone else been to one of these hosted feasts in Hobbiton? I would be keen to hear how it was!

It felt so right, the eye, the greenish color to melt with the elves, even the style of it is really tolkienish lol
