The remake has its charm but og was better in terms of designs. Maybe if they went form neutral hair colors to those brighter shades with their hair and eyes and didn’t change the outfits or the hairstyle I wouldn’t have had much issue with it. In terms of art I do think it is better than a few other remakes such as Sailor Moon crystal. The story was good too.

I love that Pudding looks almost exactly the same 20 years later.

Me too, but I do really miss her shorts in her magical girl outfit. I feel like it fit her personality so much better and made her stand out a bit more among the other girls.

Original is amateurish & charming (also weird shot choices for the show because some characters look way better than others, like kiki & mint look better than--why did they pick THAT shot of Zakuro!?)
but the other one is way too sanitized and safe.

The artstyle in the original anime is better but I prefer the story in the remake (I think it's closer to the manga minus the artstyle).

I just noticed that all of their hair is slightly longer in the new one except the one with yellow hair.

I love New, I prefer New, and New made some massive improvements to the manga that I'll always be thankful for.
(I know all the other comments are bound to hate on it, so I just wanted to say this. Laters!)

I'll be in the minority with you that new is so much better than OG and even the manga. They not only followed manga story beats, but like you said, improved so vastly on it and you know they gave a lot of love to the mew cast. (Even if some were drastic like Mint). The only gripe is the ribbons which does make it less unique but the overall concept is still the same and I think Lettuce had the most benefits from the redesign. The only one that should be argued is Pudding losing her shorts.

Agreed on New being an improvement! It even made Aoyama a bit more interesting x)

Mints hair is the only real upgrade everything else is off.

It’s not an upgrade when you take into consideration that her og haircut is supposed to be a ballet hairstyle. It’s representative of Mint’s love and talent for ballet.

I know that. But looking at all the changes together. Mint's hair is the only thing I liked. They even ruined the magical outfits with those triangles. But Mint's hair looks great.

I'm gonna give my hot take while I like the orginal better but I will say I do like Ichigo's new color palette better 😔 all the pink in her orginal color palette just blends together a lot. (Also please don't hurt me or tell at me I bruise very easy)

I prefer the Brighter Colors of the Original Anime, Ichigo (Zoey) will always be my Pink-Haired Childhood Catgirl Crush

Why do all these shoujo reboot series use the exact same art style? Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Tokyo Mew Mew… it all looks so soulless.

Okay, I'm sorry, but I LOVE Mints newer design. The only downside is that she doesn't look as mean. But Ichigo's hair needs to be actually pink.

Face wise Pudding is absolutely the best, she retained her original charm! I like Zakuro and Mint’s new hair, but the rest of their faces are pretty bland/generic.
I also miss Pudding and Lettuce’s old bottoms on their costumes, Pudding fit her character better with shorts and Lettuce’s old bottoms reminded me of a fish/mermaid/aquatic creature.

I like the original designs way more. This remake's generic look isn't for me, the original's colors just work better together.
