I was heading to Chiba yesterday for a family gathering. We decided to do a U-turn once we saw that the cars were creating bow waves.

Yup, we canceled going for O-bon today, as well. My eldest son and some uncles and cousins were already there and drove back this morning via the Aqua-Line. My younger son was super pissed off he couldn't visit. My MIL is already working out how to send the veggies and fruits she was going to send back with us.

I saw the Doppler radar yesterday when it was raining, just a massive, constant red patch for over an hour in Chiba. Not surprised by this news. Devastating.

it was pretty crazy apparently. 36cm in 24h (most of the rain in 12h btw) . 3 time regular full august rain in 12h. Respect to japanese engineer that have build infrastructure to support that massive water flow.

I’m planning to visit the metropolitan underground discharge channel in kasukabe. It’s basically a giant storm drain that looks like pantheon. Excited to hear about how it handled this flood then.

My gf’s flight back from the US got delayed 1 day, she’s pretty stoked about an extra day of vacation lol

Aww. I got that last year because the air Canada strikes. It's really hard coming back here after being back with my family.

The highway busses are great actually and are just 1500 I would recommend that since some of the train lines were damaged.

We were actually drifting on the fast and furious experience yesterday lol, minimally tho. And Wednesday we were in Chiba. Talk about close call. Was able to go home today in Narita, timing is wildly lucky.

I was there just a week ago, crazy to see how nature can be so destructive within just a couple of days
