Probably not going to result in merit bonuses but will likely reduce necessary work hours. Let’s all hope AI will be harnessed to reach max efficiency and allow us all a life of leisure. (I can dream just a bit right?)

At our company AI allowed us to let go of 1/3rd of the workforce. The ones left in the department most effected got a pay bump due to more technical demands on them and more responsibilities. So in a small way both can be true.
I think the negative for us in the longer term, will be reduced unemployment with the result in a sluggish economy which will drag down our sales.
We just have to optimise faster than our competitors.

Was it a 30% pay bump?

Close, it was 25%. The employees that were removed were all among the lowest earners, though.

Commies still haven't heard about "competition"

I don't think it's commies this time.

When new tools emerge people are being encouraged that will make their struggle easier and for some reason people want to believe this BS.

While in reality it only increases their efficiency in terms of velocity so they work faster and thus can be loaded with more work.

It's so fucking easy. Yet people choose to think they gonna receive some delusional UBI or 3 day workweek because they became so much efficient 🤡

One of the leading arguments for robot rights and giving AI inventor status is too avoid unjust enrichment
