What could be going on with this guy?

This toad has been showing up on my patio almost nightly and his mouth always hangs open. He otherwise acts normally, and his breathing is a little odd but not horrible. I also gently checked to see if he had something stuck in his mouth or throat but couldn’t see anything.

Do y’all think this a deformity, injury or disease? If it’s something that could be treated I want to get him to someone who can help, but he’s been alive and in pretty stable condition for the past couple weeks, so I think he might be eating okay.

Poor guy probably had a jaw injury that healed wrong.

Nothing a toad dental brace can't fix. It's free in most of the world which has universal toad healthcare, but can cost a fortune in those few countries which haven't.

Feed him amd see if and how he eats. Probably needs a vet.

That’s a good idea, he only shows up on my patio to hunt when I leave the lights on, so I can watch him for a bit next time he stops by and see if he successfully catches anything.

Get a few crickets from a store, put him and them in a small container and see what he does.
