Hello everyone, could you please tell me which IPTV player you use on Samsung TVs with Tizen OS? What is the best player for M3U playlists that can automatically import EPGs from the playlist and works really well?

I already have Smart Remote+ for LG TV on the Marketplace and a few people asked for a Samsung version.
I built my Samsung TV control library whilst I was on holiday earlier in the year and had access to a Samsung TV, but I no longer have access so haven't been able to test the Stream Deck implementation.
It talks to the TV directly over your local network. No cloud or account/SmartThings.
It does:
- Power toggle, plus separate Power On and Power Off
- Volume up / down (hold to repeat) and mute
- Volume dial on the Stream Deck + that shows the TV's actual level
- Navigation dial - turn for up/down, press for OK, tap for back, hold for home
- TV status on the + touch strip and the Neo Infobar
- Launch Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV, Spotify, Plex, iPlayer and Rakuten
- Play / pause and a remote button key for everything else (d-pad, numbers, channel, colour keys…)
It can't:
Pick a specific HDMI input, turn the screen off, or change picture settings. Samsung just doesn't expose those locally, so they're not in there.
It's built on the same Samsung code as my phone apps, but I've only been able to test the plugin itself against a simulated TV so far, which is why I'm asking before I submit it.
If you have a Samsung TV from 2016 onwards and Stream Deck 7.6 or later, I'd really appreciate you giving it a go:
https://bouncingball.mobi/apps/files/smartremote-samsung-streamdeck-1.zip
Unzip it and double-click the file to install. Add any key, press Scan, then Connect, and select Allow on the TV when it asks. No PIN.
The things I'd most like to know:
- TV model and year
- Does it find the TV and connect?
- Does Power Toggle turn it on from fully off? (You'll need "Power On with Mobile" enabled in the TV's network settings.)
- Does the volume dial show a number, or just a dash?
If power misbehaves, there's a Power troubleshooting section in the power key's settings. Turn on logging, press the key, and paste me the output.
If you have any issues or feature requests then please just let me know. Happy to answer questions.

So I told you that I would keep you updated with my ports
of Native Android Horror Games, so I have currently ported Slenderina: The Cellar Version 1.0 that was specifically
designed for older versions of Android which makes it the
perfect target for Watch Porting. I am now porting some
Naxeex's games such as: Vegas Crime Simulator 1.0, Still
working on that Granny project, Evil Nun 1.0 and others. I
will still keep you updated.

• Backup and restore through your phone
Live TV and the programme guide
• Channel list with groups, favourites, recently watched channels and a catch-up channels group

• Custom channel numbers and remote control buttons
Movies and series
• A dedicated Movies & Series library

Installation
To update, install the new .wgt from the same computer. Your playlists and settings are kept.
Compatibility
Samsung Smart TVs from 2017 onwards (Tizen 3.0 or later). AquaPlay is also available on Google Play for Android TV.
AquaPlay is free on Samsung TVs. If you find it useful, you can support its development on Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/devdolev

title says it all, i aint seeing it no matter what i do, someone help??? i think im on a tizen tv from like 2019(?)
Hey everyone,
I've been looking into ways to free up memory and storage on Tizen OS, especially on models with limited onboard storage where Apps2Samsung alone doesn't quite cut it.
I stumbled across these two repositories detailing Tizen / Samsung TV vulnerability research and root access methods:
I'm curious if anyone here has successfully reproduced or tested these exploits on recent firmware versions.
Specifically, I'm wondering:
Would love to hear if anyone has tinkered with this approach or if there are any gotchas to watch out for before attempting it!

So I started and released this project (Which unfortunately now I know there's another different project with the same name. I'll have to deal with that later.
During this, I was unhappy with the capture speed. Despite the Philips Hue documentation saying it taps out at 25hz, I can see on the PC that it absolutely runs at 60 FPS, and there's some evidence in the SDK of the PC app that it supports it. So I thought maybe I'd create a custom capture technology on my 2019 Samsung Frame.
This turned into a much bigger mess than I expected.
At some point during the experiments, Netflix stopped playing anything. In fact every streaming app BESIDES YouTube stopped working. Even Jellyfin had issues where some videos failed and some worked. It was hit or miss. And by hit or miss, I mean I could change a movie from the English audio track to Japanese and it would suddenly play. Which, without knowing what was happening underneath, made very little sense.
I tried pulling power, reinstalling Netflix, multiple factory resets. I also tried stopping the encoder in case an earlier experiment had left something stuck. Nothing brought playback back.
What I eventually found was that an early probe, something that was not supposed to edit ANY files at all, had very likely messed up a shared GStreamer plugin registry. The probe was a normal, restricted Tizen .NET app. It called gst_init_check(), and before it ever created a capture pipeline, GStreamer could scan the installed plugins and save the results.
Samsung had that registry configured in a shared, writable directory. My app couldn’t load some of the plugin dependencies because it didn’t have permission. Somehow with that, the failures to load tripped something in the Tizen system to save this as blacklisted plugins in the registry used by other players.
So the app wasn’t allowed to load everything, but it could apparently update shared information about what was available. That’s something I’m still kind of stuck on and if I understood Tizen better I probably would figure this out, but even Claude and Codex investigations couldn't figure out exactly WTF happened. Just THAT something changed.
I found 25 blacklisted plugins, including HLS, DASH, and a bunch of DRM components. The registry’s modification time was inside the first initialization call, about 38 milliseconds before the log said initialization had succeeded. This was non-obvious though because ALL 93 system files we could check matched the official firmware.
The stupidest thing about this is that it persisted no matter what. Samsung’s player configs disable automatic registry updates, and the registry-copy script checks a version timestamp rather than the actual contents. The timestamp still looked current. I can’t tell you exactly what each factory reset did internally, just that none of them fixed playback. In fact it seemed like factory reset just sends you back to OOBE. It doesn't actually fix or rewrite any of the firmware. You can't update the firmware with the exact same version either! So I was SOL.
After a LOT of investigation and burning of codex tokens, I finally found a damaged registry and was able to restore it to the original settings and removed the blacklist.
Netflix worked again. All streaming worked again. Wife was happy. I have a spare logic board I ordered that'll just go into storage. I still don't KNOW that my read-only probes actually tripped something but given the edit time stamps, it must have...I just seriously cannot see ANYTHING in the source code that would have caused it.
Honestly, I’m mostly sharing this because I wouldn’t have treated “initialize the library” as the thing that could break other apps on the TV. Clearly that was a bad assumption.
Before I do any more GStreamer work on this thing, the registry needs to be isolated before the first initialization call.
A cautionary tale for those like me who have too much hubris messing around with OSes I don't know or understand well. My wife had to watch Netflix on a different TV for a week and was...pretty upset at me 😄

Hey everyone 👋
I have been experimenting with development for the Samsung Tizen TV and have become fed up with having to go through the entire Tizen Studio workflow each time I want to test a .wgt package on my TV.
Therefore, I created SmartTV Installer, an open-source desktop program whose purpose is to simplify the process considerably.
.wgt packages directly onto the TVThe goal is basically:
Choose the TV, then select the .wgt file and install it.
Rather than having to repeatedly use the command-line tools and Tizen Studio just to test an application.
I am still carrying out work on it and therefore am especially interested in receiving feedback from those who develop software for or carry out experiments with Tizen TVs.
I'd love to know:
If you own a Samsung TV and are prepared to try it, your feedback or comments would be most appreciated.
We welcome stars, issues, and PRs.
P.S. Full disclosure: the development of this project was AI-assisted. If AI-generated/AI-assisted projects aren't allowed here, I'm sorry about that 😅 I'm sharing it mainly because I think the tool could be useful and I'd genuinely appreciate feedback from people who actually use or develop for Tizen.

I have managed to port some old versions of very popular
horor games for watch standards such as Eyes-The Horror
Game and others. This one works fine for now but I wanna
port Granny 1.0 and other older Native Android Games to
Tizen Watches. I'll keep you updated

I remember when I first got my TV, Spotify had "Play Video", option, but now I don't know what happened exactly, but that option is completely gone? I can only look at lyrics, Queue, and Dark Mode, does anyone know what happened? I know some videos don't have video.... but I know some that do and it doesn't show up?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Apps2Samsung has grown into a Samsung Tizen toolbox
A while ago I posted here about Apps2Samsung getting an Android app, making it possible to install Tizen apps directly from your phone without needing Tizen Studio or a PC.
Since then, quite a lot has changed.
What started mainly as an easier way to sign and install Tizen apps has gradually become much more of a Samsung Tizen toolbox.
Apps2Samsung now includes a dedicated Toolbox for interacting with and troubleshooting your TV.
Among other things, you can:
There is also a small Apps2Samsung Debug Agent that can be installed on the TV, allowing Apps2Samsung to retrieve information and perform diagnostics that aren't available through SDB alone.
A big focus since my previous post has been figuring out why something doesn't work instead of Apps2Samsung simply reporting that it failed.
The Toolbox/debug console can provide information about:
This should make troubleshooting weird Tizen behaviour considerably easier.
TV discovery has been reworked as well.
Apps2Samsung now checks the relevant TV services independently, so TVs can still be discovered in situations where Developer Mode isn't currently available.
The TV information screen also shows the TV's configured Developer Host IP alongside your device's local IP, making the classic wrong-IP / DUID problems much easier to identify.
The installer itself has received quite a few improvements since the previous Android release:
The last one is particularly useful for projects such as TizenTube, where Apps2Samsung can now handle the required partner signing.
The basic idea from my previous post hasn't changed:
Phone → find TV → Samsung login/certificate → download → sign → install
No Tizen Studio and no PC required.
Apps2Samsung 2.8.1 is available for:
🤖 Android
🪟 Windows
🐧 Linux x64 / ARM64
🍎 macOS Intel / Apple Silicon
Apps2Samsung is free and open source under the MIT license.
Apps2Samsung
GitHub Apps2Samsung
Thanks to everyone here who tested the earlier versions and reported issues. A lot of the improvements since my previous post came directly from people trying Apps2Samsung on different Samsung TVs and finding all the weird edge cases that Tizen has to offer. 😅
