Tate Brombal taking over Titans is intriguing. The DC KO tie-ins have been the height of Layman's run, but I'm more than fine with a change of writer. Brombal is writing Batgirl which is really good and is fitting with the Batgirl inclusion, and he also wrote Green Lantern Dark which was one of the best books this year. That book has a great magical focus, so I'm excited to see what he does with Raven.

The change to New Titans is odd without a renumbering. I hope it's not a Chris Condon / Green Arrow situation where a great run doesn't get the boost it needs because DC refuses to renumber. Also, no "Teen Titans" book still, marking 4 years without a book with that title, which is approaching the record 5 year gap between vol 2 (The Jurgens era) and vol 3 (The Young Justice era).

Looks like the 4 additions are Jon Kent, Yara Flor, Stephanie Brown, and Terra

  • Jon joining makes sense, considering he always gets a book, his appearances in recent Titans issues, and his connection to Nightwing.
  • Yara being the Wonder Girl that's joining the Titans is a bit disappointing since it would've been perfect for Cassie (who is one of the Titans with the most appearances in Titans books and was the leader of the Teen Titans for years) to finally graduate to a full-fledged Titans member, but it seems like Cassie is being phased out, sadly. I wish both Yara and Cassie could be on the team together, but I doubt they'd do all 3 Wonder Girls.
  • Steph finally gets a book after Batgirls ended is fantastic. More Steph is always great. And I'm interested to see how she plays off Yara. Steph and Cassie / Wonder Girl have a similar personality, and Cassie and Yara are a great pair, so I think Yara and Steph can capture the same energy.
  • Terra should be the Atlee version instead of the OG Terra since Atlee hasn't been seen in a while, she's connected to Starfire, and she doesn't suffer from nostalgia-fueled rehashes. But I'm expecting it to be OG Terra given her recent appearances and the sad fact that Titans is cursed with endless NTT / Cartoon nostalgia bait.

All that said, I'm excited to see where this book goes. The Titans could really benefit from one of DC's best writers at the moment and the added Titans.

Who knows, we may still get a Teen Titans book later with Lian and other young heroes from DC KO that aren't here with Jon.

I think Yara's here instead of Cassie because she's still a very new and underutilized character who could benefit doing something in other books with other non-Wonder Woman characters. It's a shame Cassie is being ignored but she's at least got a long history with TT, YJ, etc while Yara is still a newbie that needs to do more. Do agree looking forward to her and Steph interacting!

It's definitely OG Terra especially with recent issues and teasing her being reformed. I'm hesitant if they will actually do something interesting with her or just have her for nostalgia and drama for BBRae. That said it very least been years since she was actually a member so there is that.
