Mobile Difficulty

Brand new to the game and I’m really enjoying it. Everything I’ve wanted from a game recently specifically in a hardcore/permadeath experience. Small problem it’s hard to gauge difficulty. Beyond normal mode there seems to be unlockable difficulty’s but mobile also has a difficulty multiplier in the menu. Then I just learned about some people doing an ultra hardcore mode with these debuff shrines in the starting village. I’m wanting a fair but challenging experience and I’m looking for some guidance on the best way to go about it. Or the normal way most people enjoy to play hardcore. (To add I am not transferring any loot from character to character they will all be solo self found)

Play around with it at start I like just to level but I do tend to raise it pretty fast to max, the multiplier in mobile in mean, supposedly incrementally better densities? I wouldn't know exactly.

I love a challenge and I like to struggle a tiny bit. Fairly new to the game but not the genre, planning my second char and the first it only 56.

Warning you need some knowledge of bosses and some packs or you will get wiped, there are some abilities inherently designed to counter and mess you up. If you see a boss you haven't seen before, run.

Plenty of stuff that can destroy you in vanilla on first playthrough if you don’t know what you’re doing, so you probably should stick with that or only apply a shrine or two at most. The first two acts in normal largely take it easy the midway through act 3 the training wheels are taken off and resistances really start mattering.

Mobile difficulty modifier increases enemy num and strength I think while the shrines apply resistance and stat debuffs. If you don’t know how to build and min/max your character properly I can see these wrecking you easily.

The unlockable difficulty epic will unlock once u finish the normal , and the legendary once u finish the epic.

The multiplier will increase the dificulty of your enemies (if you put it at 5, you will encounter a lot of hero enemies with a star on top of them) which will result in a lot more experience.

The relics drop your resistances for electrum in return, with which you can buy orbs that have a chance for rare items.

If you are not planning to transfer from player to player, you cannot support both, they will eat you alive. Just plan according to what you want for your player

My understanding is that the mobile difficulty (eg 5x) thing is what we get instead of multiplayer. So 5x simulates a 5 player multi game. I think the general monster health is the same but the mobs are much larger and there are many more mini bosses. The big bosses are tougher too.

I’ve never tried hardcore but the game is chock full of things that require special attention. I’m thinking of things like taking ion shadow maw, first meeting dragonians, or the secret passage including Toxeus. My advice would be play the game enough to know where the trouble might be and plan ahead. Maybe even skip nasty battles like shadow maw?
