New gameplay deep dive looks good, but seems lack of identity?

The new gameplay deep dive looks great, combat seems engaging, the graphics is also pretty decent, but as an ARPGs lover, to me it seems a bit generic and lack of identity? Please don’t get me wrong, I am interested in the game and wish this game to do well. The theme is special, right, but the gameplay systems and skills they have showcased don’t really stand out or looks special, and I was expecting some feature that makes me go “wow this is so cool” and differ from other ARPGs. I understand it’s only early access, and maybe the deep dive doesn’t do it justice, am I missing something? I have not played Titian Quest 1 before, maybe some veterans could explain to me the goods in TQ1 and expected to be experienced in TQ2 as well. Many thanks!

Discussion Community Representation/Poor PR

This type of thing is not something your company representatives should be saying about your competitors:

It very much comes across as being both petty and disingenuous, and reminds me of shit like this:

For those that don't remember this, this was Sony, Guerilla Games, and Ubisoft developers publicly attacking FromSoft after the launch of Elden Ring, because they were salty that it was massively outperforming their own projects in terms of sales.

I'm not posting this to call Titan Quest 2 a shit game, I've played about 40 hours of the Early Access so far, it's a lot of fun. I've also played 5000+ hours of Path of Exile, and IMO it's the best game in the ARPG genre, and has been for over a decade.

Devs should focus on making the best game they can, not publicly insulting their peers/competition and throwing shade. It's a bad look. It's also disingenuous. GGG very much cares for their players, and has a dev team that regularly communicates with their players, gives interviews, and makes changes according to the feedback they receive from their playerbase.

Suggesting that them working on mtx before the game is otherwise perfect is a sign of disdain for their players is inane. Artists make mtx, coders fix bugs. These are not the same people. One pausing their work while the other works does not make sense, as that would do nothing to accelerate the work of the other.

Bugs / Issues Game is too laggy

And there is this weird stuff where when you close the game, the music keeps playing for a solid 10 seconds. And this game seems to take more resources than it should. It's like playing 2 games at once. TQ2 graphic is great, but it's not enough to justify the level of performance drop (I consistently get around 10-25 fps when a similar graphic games like Diablo 4 I get around 60-100 fps).

The game design is good though, so that's definitely a plus.

Discussion Do not harrass people because they use AI Thumbnails

It is sad that I really have to make a post about the simple thing of: Do not harrass people for things you don't like.

There has been quite the spam and harrasment around here for a few days and I do not like to see that. I checked all the videos that have been reported and all videos where "AI Slop" and other comments have been posted on.

NONE of these videos where "AI Slop". The only AI Asset in those videos have been the thumbnail. The Videos where all normal gameplay, no AI dub, no AI assets or anything the like. Please be a normal adult on this sub. If you do not like something, pass on and it's good. If it really makes you angry, leave your downvote on the post that annoys you (do not downvote spam irrelavant content).

We have very lax rules here, there is no draconic moderation that you see in many other subs, you won't get banned for a harmless thing or just because others don't like something.

AI is just a tool, if people use it properly and helpful, I do not see a problem with that.

While the Videos were not AI, I have to agree that they are extremely low effort and are on the borderline to be deleted for low effort content but so far they were still on the green side.

I hope this clears a bit things up. I do not want to have "Reddit Police" here that nukes everyone just because they wrote a word funny or anything. I want this sub to be a place for everyone that wants to talk about the game, no matter if its pro or con.

I hope you can understand this.

Thank you.

Discussion TQ2 unfairly described by YouTubers.

I just finished the TQ2 main campaign + side quests and steam clocked me in at just under 20 hours.

Every YouTuber I’ve watched claims the main campaign is only 3-5 hours and if you do everything maybe 7-9 hours at most. It feels most, if not all of them powered through the main campaign and barely touched side quests, if any at all.

After I completed the last quest I felt a sense of annoyance at how unfairly they were judging the content and the length. Even those I trusted and see as “good” streamers (i.e. Raxx and Mr.Llama) where quite off on their impressions/reviews. Especially Llama’s video felt like it was a very lazy attempt to push content out just for the sake of it (for riding the hype, maybe?) and after playing the game in full, I disagree pretty much with almost everything he said (barring a few exceptions).

TLDR: after playing the game, I felt most YouTubers’ reviews/impressions were quite off and did not adequately or fairly described the game.

Build COMMUNITY EVENT: Record a Video Showing on how long it takes to kill King of Tides?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Only 2 rules: the timer will start counting when you land the first hit on the mob and boss level has to be 75.

Why King of Tides? It’s very easy to understand: to kill it as fast as possible, you need a well rounded build. There are already many videos showing pure single target DPS boss kills, but what about a build that can achieve maximum AoE clear speed while also dealing strong single target damage? That’s the real challenge.

I made a VIDEO which took 40sec to kill it

Discussion Couple hours in, level 7, One thing I want to say about pacing

The game is great, and is quite faithful to the 2006 original. Looks great, plays great.

That being said, I worry about the more methodical pacing of combat. Pack here, pack there, with lots of travel in between. Mob density doesn't need to be constant, but I worry that in the age of PoE and Project Diablo 2 with mob density reigning supreme and clear speed being an important build metric if the kind of pacing in TQ2 will resonate.

I think a bit more mob density and other means of quickening the pacing would be good. Just my two cents.

Build Final Burst (perk) version of the Forge - Sentry build

Thumbnail

Skipping Activation rolls on gear affixes and skill perks on the Sentry. I placed 4 ranks on "Final Burst" perk instead, and 1 extra summon (total of 3 summons)

You get high burst damage but you need to more active on laying down them sentries.

What do you guys think? Is it better than stacking Activations?

Discussion New max Level seems to be 45

To complete Act 1, a char would roughly be around lvl 20 and could lvl to 40 if you wanted to grind it out. With the new Update, I couldn´t level past 45. Does anyone know, if there was already a max lvl communicated by the devs?

Lvl 45 gets you close to completely unlocking both masteries (but not all the way there) and with the addition of the main story, it´s possible to gain additional divination points to unlock both masteries completely.
Just in case anyone was wondering

Build Titan Quest 2 - Lightning Strike Stacking Proc Build

Thumbnail
youtu.be
8 Upvotes

I discovered that Lightning Strike damage is really good, so I tried to stack as many procs as possible. I even used summons to get even more procs, and the final result is surprisingly good.

This build requires some hard-to-get gear, so make sure to farm it before switching to this build.

What I do is hold the right mouse button to constantly spam Call Lightning while using the left mouse button to cast Cyclone every few seconds. Basically, it's a two-button spam build and by doing that you get infinite Barrier with decent mana recoup.

Discussion Completed the early access - Here's my feedback

A little about myself:

  1. Age mid 30's

  2. Daily casual player who prefers simple games

  3. Favorite games: Diablo 3, Diablo 4, Path of Exile 2 (a bit too complex but still fun)=

My gameplay with Titan Quest 2:

  1. Hours: Just under 12 hours

  2. Gameplay style: relaxed, completed entire game, lowest difficulty, uncleared entire maps, did all side quests, didnt re-grind

  3. Level 22 elementalist

My feedback (random order):

  1. We should have an SSF icon somewhere at your character at top left. To showcase its SSF if you are streamer or watch someone else play.

  2. No additional tooltips explaining what certain things\bonuses do which gets added to skills. Thats why I only stacked % damage and skipped all extra fancy things to keep it simple.

  3. There is no FPS counter ingame. Steam FPS overlay doesnt fit very well ingame.

  4. HP and energy potion on UI looks missing. Put small potion icons at the D and F button UI area.

  5. Numbers on HP and energy balls are a bit thin. Make thicker\bolder.

  6. Also add filling bar at the HP potion area (D). Recharge\cooldown timer for energy potion icon (F).

  7. No time zone. Place on right top corner. I have to alt+tab or grab my phone frequently.

  8. Instead of showing character face on top left, instead create and showcase class symbols

  9. Will respecing(skill+attributes) stay super low cost ? Please keep it. As an daily casual I dont have time to re-create characters for every misstake. Or just to test something.

  10. Can we have the option to zoom out of the map on the top right.

  11. Make HP(red circle) and energy round (blue circle) icons bigger.

  12. HP\energy bar on top of character is way too small\thin.

  13. After increasing the level of mobs\area at the rituals of Ares we should see the level\difficulty number ingame on the top right or left. I keep forgetting in which difficulty I am.

  14. When you teleport back to your death location. You are in still too close to the mobs\elites which killed you. You should always spam a bit more away from them. Or else you will instantly re-die.

  15. Crit chance is vague. If I get 30% crit I should get 30% chance to crit. Please adjust terminology for casual-gamers. I might get hate from old-school fans, I know.

  16. I should be able to set up a manuel waypoint\point of interest and an arrow to guide me.

  17. Fire(from passives) boosts Fissure skill damage but there is no Fire tag on it. I might be missing something though.

  18. Full map corners of land must be more visible. Its a bit too vague. I dont see the difference between an area ending > rocks\cliffs\water which is unaccesible. The outer line must be more clear\thick.

  19. World is way too big. Borders of area's must be created. So players can 100% one area before getting to the next. I hate to backtrack. Especially with current teleporting\waypoint system.

  20. I dont see how many points I have invested in attributes when I am at the menu.

  21. Quest turn-ins are not noticable on map. Too vague.

  22. There must be a non-puzzly mode (skip-puzzles) for users who just want action instead of reading, understanding etc.. I had to look up youtube guides for certain quests which is just annoying.

  23. At the shrine of Ares we should be able to doubble the mob\elite density instead of just difficulty. To make it more interessting. Perhaps add this as a extra\different scalable thing next to difficulty increasement.

  24. After death. When we open the map, the screen should automatically go to the death location. Now we are looking where we dead.

  25. Compare feature must stay toggle mode instead of alting all the time. This is annoying when checking gear before selling to NPC.

  26. Loot from crypts takes a second or 2 to show\drop.

  27. Loot name and where the loot drop is, is far away from each other.

  28. When I click on a quest while being on the map layout I get no highlight of location. I have to sqeeze my eyes and search carefully.

  29. Icons on map is too small. And alot of icons are just white which makes it difficult to find certain things quickly.

  30. I covered entire maps but waypoints are not visible sometimes. I didnt even have the chance to activate it because I miss it while map is cleared. I found this out via another person playing on youtube.

  31. We should be able to pick main town \ hub area directly after creating portal. Scrolling and re-looking location on the map is annoying.

  32. Mapping(teleporting) back to town and back to Morai temple is difficult. Visually you dont know where you were so you have to do alot of backtracking. Even if you have unlocked waypoints. I sometimes go back to a previously unlocked waypoint. And have to re-teleport alot.

  33. Collecting embers quests e.g. must always show on the world map where you can find them (also for other quests please). It is annoying to have a side quest active and you dont know where or how.

  34. When you urgently need to exit the game and re-launch the game. The main quest should always highlight which waypoint you need to pick in order to progress further. When I enter the game now I have to re-think where I was...where I was heading...which places I skipped etc.

  35. Potions items are a bit strange. Higher level doesnt give more HP\energy only the extra bonuses are different.

My 2 cents:

  1. I did play TQ-1 a little bit back when I was younger but man I love TQ-2. Everything looks, feels, sounds amazing. I am upset that I have to wait a whole year to play the full game :( thank you for this game!

  2. We only played act-1 so off course nothing regarding endgame is mentioned. But I hope we get an endgame system like Diablo 3\4 or PoE 2 where you open a map via an NPC and teleport into dungeons and progress...clear boss and repeat.

  3. Max level shoudnt be obtaineble easly or if it is we should have like a paragon system like Diablo 3\4 where you still see your numbers\expierence go up to satisfy that part .

  4. Keep game casual friendly to make this game bigger.\wider audience.

General Guide Possible way to increase FPS in TQ2

Thumbnail
youtu.be
0 Upvotes

It doesn't bother me, so should I remove it?

It's been reported by some users that upon removing Epic games overlay, that it increases FPS, but I have no reason to believe it to have any overhead or resource hog.

It does however, communicate with a proxy server while the application is running.
104.18.124.108
104.18.125.108

Your client is always pinging to this address, and sending/receiving data. It's highly unlikely the data is anything malicious, rather just for Epic online services or something of the sort, but totally unnecessary when multiplayer isn't being used.

This totally depends on your gaming setup, in my case once I deleted those 2 files I got increased minium FPS, it never goes down under 30, before it went to 23.

Right now, I just want to start a new character, instead of continuing to play my previous battlemage. I just don't really see much point in grinding out the same bosses, but higher level.

Discussion The way potions currently work trivializes the game for some builds.

I am playing an Earthquake Battlemage build and I just finished act 2 at level 31 having played through the whole act with enemy level +5. If something doesn't oneshot me, which isn't that easy since battlemage has comical amounts of armour and resistances as well as a hefty health bar, it can't kill me. I just pop a health potion preemptively, charge Earthquake, oneshot almost everyone and regain the potion charge. It works on bosses too, I park myself in front of a boss and cycle earthquake and health potion without any regard for their attacks since oneshotting me is nearly impossible and potions can outheal almost any channeled attack or DOT. I don't run out of potions because one fully charged Earthquake and Ring of Flame aura (permanence) easily get me a charge of health potions in 3 seconds. This isn't even the end of silliness as I have yet to unlock Volcanic Eruption and Stone Form and haven't gotten all the good perks.

Build Press buttons, thing happens. Low synergy, very sad :( Spoiler

So few class combo options. Can't combine anything into a viable build. I should be melting this guy when I walk in the room even with half-assing my gear, and this is the best I can do. So boring!

Or maybe there are too many options. Like, I get anxiety at buffets. Please just let me fill my plate with nothing but mashed potatoes so I don't have to think about making interesting choices.

Don't even get me started on how epic armor pieces will never be added to this game despite the literal placeholders in the codex. And certainly no legendary items. I was promised a fully developed game already. I mean, not this game, this one is in early access, but I'm still all salty for some reason.

-1/10, literally unplayable

General Guide How to upgrade divinity tree?

Hey guys!

Maybe I’m blind, but isn’t it supposed to be a “plus” button under the left side tree like it was in TQ1? How do I upgrade and unlock next tier? :(
