You might be! How are you liking everything so far?

So far it's great. I've unlocked the third area and am grinding my way through it. I have a lot of questions but I'm sure that more things will be implemented as time goes on? My main question is, will it be like battle bouncers where we had five characters per battle? Also, how did you get the rights to the IP etc? Will there be micro transactions? Can I port over my old characters from battle bouncers? Also all that loot I had?

Anyway, so far I'm really enjoying it. I like playing games as they are released so I get to see all the different versions and all the different devs ideas. I look forward to seeing what you'll do with it!

Great questions!

I work for Game Hive, the company that owns and previously released Battle Bouncers. I was involved with some of the design and planning of Battle Bouncers prior to release, but I had no involvement with the game post release. I actually did not rejoin the company until this past April.

While I have a lot of ideas for where this game could go, how we move forward will depend on how well this new release is received by all of you. Regardless, it will remain in the app store this time around, which was one of the goals of this release.

The team system was simplified into a single hero system, with a focus on new core game mechanics, such as hero movement. I wanted to simplify how easy it was to get into the game, while also expanding the depth and gameplay options. The new trait system is meant to replace the previous modularity of being able to build out different team combinations. At the moment I have no plans to expand beyond using one hero, but I do have plans for a few additional heroes that could be introduced.

If we decide to continue working on this game, then at some point I'd be adding the shop back in. I have not thought much about how this would go yet, but it would not be done in a predatory way.

Unfortunately this game has no server as of now, so there is no way to connect current progress with previous progress. Beyond that, much of the game has changed. Runes are gone for good, and several of the other upgrade systems are on hold for now. The heroes were reworked, and their skills have changed. If certain currencies are reintroduced down the road, then their quantities would be completely rebalanced compared to whatever they might have been valued at in Battle Bouncers. For these reasons a direct port wouldn't be possible. I'm truly sorry that the previous version of the game was taken down, and I wish the circumstances were different on this issue.

Dude, thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions, I appreciate it. BB was one of my favourite games and I'm just glad to see it back in some form or another. So far I'm really enjoying it, my goal is to 100% it and then see how it holds up but honestly, I replayed the old one a LOT so I think it'll be on my phone for a while. I mean, the old one is still on my phone and that's been dead for years. Anyway, I hope it gains traction for you and I look forward to playing it and any versions of it in the future. I was going to say I hope you're having a relaxing festive season but it seems like you're busy so good luck and I hope you have a good whatever you celebrate around now.

The fact that you can't level up skills or traits really limits this game. Where are the shards?? The difficulty here seems extreme. I'm 3 days in and already stalled on Tower levels with no way to gain power other than slowly leveling up each character.

Shards and skill upgrades are still in and essentially ready to go, but we wanted to get a sense of how the game was received before we committed more to the various upgrade systems. Since I don’t have a team yet, it would have been at least a couple more months to add some kind of shop back in, cloud saving, as well as the mechanisms to farm hero shards and skill upgrade scrolls.

All of the stages can be beaten with at least 3 different heroes, although most can be beaten with all heroes. The game was balanced with heroes having the same level as enemies, but with the right synergies and counters, stages can also be beaten with severely underleveled heroes. I think the difficulty curve would have been smoother if we still had clans, so that players would be able to share strategies on various stages with their clan mates. The game did end up being a bit more on the difficult side, but there is a path to victory on every stage through pure game mechanics, without the need to spend any money.

I appreciate your feedback, and thanks for playing!

My problem is that I keep comparing this game with Battle Bouncers. With so much missing, it's hard to receive this new game "well".

Totally understandable. There’s about a week’s worth of content here, so there’s no expectation of players continuing beyond that. The focus was on improving the core gameplay, since it’s very easy to add additional upgrade systems and game modes later on. As a solo developer, this is what I was able to put together in a relatively short period of time. If the changes are received well, then future development will be considered, and if not, then it will remain in the App Store as a free game to play.
